So, I heard from my girlfriend's roommate that the frats and sororities are making it mandatory for their members to attend the game against Rice. I don't know exactly where she got this info from but I figured it's worth mentioning.

I just received the following email. Sounds great!

It's Halloween At Apogee Stadium

North Texas will host the Rice Owls on Thursday, October 31, in a special nationally-televised Halloween-night game between two of the leaders of Conference USA's West Division. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m., but there will be plenty of activities leading up to kickoff.

Fall Carnival And Trick-Or-Treat Prior To The Game

It wouldn't be Halloween without Trick-or-Treat for the kids, so we're going to host a Fall Carnival behind the wing-shaped north endzone section. All children will receive a backpack to fill with candy and prizes. There will be games hosted by various North Texas athletic teams, a bounce house, and candy handed out by Mean Green student-athletes to children in costume. The carnival and trick-or-treat will get underway at 5 p.m.

Wear Black Or Wear Green

Fans are encouraged to wear black or green for the Halloween-night game, and several local retailers, including Barnes and Nobles, Voertman's, Barefoot Athletics, Walmart, Target, Shop.MeanGreenSports.com, and the Mean Green Stadium Store have black and green T-shirts for the occasion. Click here for more information.

Free Admission For Children Under 14 in Costume

Children under 14 in costume receive free admission to the game. Just go to one of the ticket booths and receive a free general-admission ticket.

Win A Car From Bill Utter Ford

One fan will be selected for a chance to win a Ford Fusion from Bill Utter Ford. Starting from the end zone, the contestant will punt once; move to the spot of the punt and pass the ball once; and then from that final spot must successfully kick a field goal. Click here to register for a chance to take the field and win a Ford Fusion.

C-USA Food Drive Competition

The Student Athletic Advisory Council is competing in a canned food drive against other schools in Conference USA. The school that collects the most canned food (measured by weight) will be given a cash prize by Conference USA. Collection receptacles will be placed outside each gate of the stadium for fans to donate. All of the canned food donated will go to Denton-area charities, including the North Texas Food Bank and the Salvation Army.

A Halloween Surprise

For this special nationally-televised game, the Mean Green football team will reveal a Halloween-night surprise just prior to kickoff.

Just picked up my Apogee After Dark t-shirt, it's nice and thank you for whomever put effort into this. It's $5 go freakin buy one, if you choose to wear it great if not so be it.

Where did you buy it! Apogee? Going to get two...one for the bride as well. It will be a big surprise...sort of like flowers on Valentines or diamonds on the anniversary, right?

Lol....diamonds or a t-shirt??? I hope I chose right. Went to the athletic center they are setup just inside from 1-5 each day.

Excellent...will be there tomorrow! Thanks!

I think this is great. The only thing that would be better would be to give out free t-shirts to get the students there. Black out if you will? I know it's only $5 but these are college kids.

This kind of begs the question: Whose budget paid for the shirts? Because if it's revenue from tuition or fees paid by students, back in the day a ton of students would have thrown a fit if their money was used to buy shirts to sell back to them.

I love that when you click on the link for clothing retailers it takes you to a UNT we page with the "Friday is Pride Day" campaign.*

*A campaign that was started and originally financed by an enterprising student and not NT administrators. Rumor has it that kid is a Lieutenant these days.

Pleasantly surprised to see this turn positive.

Literally the first thing I thought of after I read your response: "If your neighbor's dog keeps crapping in your yard, once in a while it will help the flowers grow."
