I envy y'all. I am going to kids soccer games all day and then have to rush to a bar to watch us get our 4th win. I would love to be there.

Sounds like your priorities are in pretty good order to me. Watching your young kids play soccer = priceless.

Got here to the tailgate spot and treated to a bonus early morning softball game between La Tech and ULM.

It's the fall ball season. The La Tech parents tell me their new coach has been great an accommodating, such as scheduling this game early on homecoming so they can take advantage of the incoming fans.

Mark Montgomery is doing great things turning the softball program around

SUMG's father, William Howard McDowell worked his way off a farm in Louisiana to attend La Tech and graduate in 1937 as a chemist. From the stories I have heard he was a good man and a great father.

Here is his brick among the thousands of other graduates honored along a paved walkway across campus.

So cool. Wished NT did this.

That's way cool. Great find! Nice of SUMG to honor his father in such a way. And would be cool for UNT as well. We do have such a program utilizing the space at the Alumni Pavilion. Many grads have honored alums in such a manner. Everyone should check it out at the Alumni Pavilion before the next game. Bricks are still available for purchase by the way.

OSU does the same thing at their Alumni Center on campus. Really nice way to honor someone.
