You know, funny as this is...what I wish would get a bit more play is just how classy some of the Brazil fans were in applauding after Schurrle's wonder-strike. Actually in South America if your team is stinking the place up, then you taunt them by cheering for the other team. That's why the stadium was so loud at the end, the fans were showing their displeasure at the team. That's why so many of the players were looking around and either hanging their heads or crying.

So outside the world cup, the English Premier League is the big deal, right? Are those games also typically 1-0 affairs?

Not usually. The average EPL goals per game is 2.8 I think.

This world cup was kinda weird, the group stage was out of control only for the knockout stages to really settle down and see teams play a little more conservatively. All in all it was a pretty great cup though. MLS still in full swing, EPL is back in a month. Soccer never sleeps.
