Students: Nooooorth Teeexxaaas

Alumni: Nooooorth Teeexxaaas

Repeat 3 times

End in unison with: GO MEAN GREEN!

You shameless self promoter.

Actually, leave off the "GO" and just end it with MEAN GREEN, which could be in unison or MEAN from the student side and GREEN from the Alumni side. This also allows for the scoreboard and cue cards from the cheerleaders to end the cheer.

Rick, I'll meet you at Margaritaville Casino next week to get my gambling money.

CW,.. I'll pay cash and Im serious.

This needs to be done. By way of the P.A. Announcer..by way of cheerleader cards,.. By way of Scrappy at the middle of the field standing on a surfboard being held up by a team of cheerleaders. Somehow it needs a beginning and a sudden and quick end.

Once this is taught to the masses, we then can do it anywhere on the road as well, be it at an NCAA basketball tournament,.. Or wherever.

Rick.....you are spot on here. 100% Agree. This could be huge. And so easy to do.

Thanks, but the problem isn't getting it to the right people. The problem is getting the right people to do it.

I presented it to the cheerleaders and they blew it off.

I presented it to the Spirit Committee...and they blew it off.

I presented it to the athletic department and Paul Batchelder said we already have chants like that worked out with the band.

I presented it to the band and they agreed with Batchelder.

Then we got to New Orleans for the NCAA basketball tournament and as soon as Memphis performed their famous T-I-G-E-R chant exactly like what I had worked so hard to pull off OUR university president sitting directly in front of me turns around and asked me.."Rick...why can't we get a chant like that going?".

So there you go. I'm done. The ball is in someone else's court. It'll be easier to simply pay someone who can make it stick.

So the challenge is on!!!!!

Rick....disappointing that you were ignored. Not surprised...some people are incredibly stubborn. Seems that's it's a "not my idea kind of thing so I'm not going to do it." I say we start an email campaign and keep at it until it gets done. Or hell.....we all band together and sit opposite sides of the stadium and do it ourselves. Signs and all. This could easily be organized with enough people. It would catch on and gain attention.

Admin and coaches keep asking us fans to come to games....it's time they take action and serve us fans....the people buying tickets. Who can we start emailing and calling? List of names.

Here's a couple of examples on how it's done correctly.

Below the crowd is prompted by the K State mascot.

For Arkansa's "Calling the Hogs" chant I think the band and cheerleaders prompt the crowd though I can't be sure?

Paul Bs excuse of already having chants is just silly when looking around college football chants. Nothing we have can be compared to your examples. My second team is LSU followed by Arizona State. Those team chants give you goosebumps at games. That North Texas chant last night is primed and ready to be organized. I'll do my part and help.

Please tell me someone got a video of this?

This is my favorite chant at games, really gets me going when the crowd does it. I always thought we should do it as the captains go up for the coin toss or right before kick off to start the game.

Another good one that is kind of done, though I don't know if people really do it or if it is an "official" chant or not, is during kick offs.

As the kicker is getting ready:

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

*kick*

Mean Green!!!!!!

I know the group around me have been doing it for a while. I think it's unofficially official now. Althought I'm not a fan of doing it when recieving a kick after the other team scores.

Reference Virginia Tech (just before Enter Sandman)- they knock it out of the park.

Maybe I'm a bit biased, I have Hokies in my family, but if you've been there, it's epic...

Am I the only one that thinks we usually hold both the North and Texas signs on the same side of the field? Am I wrong about this? Obviously this time the signs were on opposite sides of the stadium but normally I could swear that they hold them one one side only.

I'm starting to think that whatever we decide to do, the whole stadium should do it. No breaking it up on each side. It may make it more intimidating to have tho whole stadium rocking instead of one side at a time.

I've never heard it better at a football game.

Maybe the only one I remember specifically as more impressive than last night was at the 2007 NCAA Tournament Selection Show event. Keith Wooden had his piece of the net hanging off his face from a headband, and he was conducting the crowd like an orchestra. But that one had a roof and walls to help make it echo.

That one was pretty loud. I remember my kids covering their ears while they did the chant.

I'd be even better if we used the jumbotron. Either way, I think a chant like that is enough to spur a pretty good one at all the games. We need to time it better before the games. For the Rice game, we need to do it so they can get it on TV.

Hopefully the cheerleaders realize that what they did this time REALLY WORKED and will REPEAT that method next time.

That is all..

Oh and I Agree with FFR. It needs a formal ending.

Is there an easy way to contact them and tell them how good of a job they did and that it was appreciated?

The Jumbotton is a good idea. But what do you do when your away on the road?

That's why it needs a prompting from someone official, Scrappy, Cheerleaders... Something.

What Memphis did was have their cheerleaders roll their hands and yell Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!, and that got everyone's attention. Then they brought their arms down to start.

Arkansas does something similar I believe.

I've been thinking that if we win the two games going into the Rice game we might just have a huge crowd. It's amazing how priorities can be shifted if you are winning.
