I think if we can continue to win we will see a sell out against SMU next season, if we win out maybe against San Antonio

I think if we win the next three (two on the road, so fingers and toes crossed) we may see a near sellout for homecoming as we try to #hit6 against UTEP...weather permitting.

Agreed. 16-18k tops. If ya'll guys thought this looked like 25K....

It was a very loud and active crowd.

I am a little surprised that some of you think it wasn't 20,000 at the very lease. I was shocked at how many were in the wing. We continue to win, attendance goes up. Keep winning!

So let me get this straight. I'm the bad guy for saying meangreener consistently overestimates attendance numbers? I would have loved for there to be 25k there but I think the announced number was spot on.

To be fair though, you went in expecting 1 and ended up getting 2. That's like 100% underestimation. :)

Attendance was ... Better. I have no way of knowing how many were actually there, but for the first time in a while, I wasn't embarrassed.

Atmosphere is something that will sell itself. It is contagious... Lets just keep the momentum going.

Halloween will be tough for the alums that have kids... I will be there, but most of my friends will not. The students will be key for rice... All student organizations are going to need to postpone their parties until afterwards. Or they need to make the game a part of the plans... Otherwise, rice will be poorly attended...

Remember, they can legitimately report tickets sold in the total attendance so if you feel there's a discrepancy that could account for the difference. Suffice it to say it was more than expected and the loss at Tulane and the threatening weather put a dent in the walkup crowd.

Even after a great win at home...even after a win....sigh!

Nice crowd, loud crowd, most into the game, most cheering the Mean Green...given a couple of our own "fans" booing the home team at times...super hard hitting, great O-line work, etc., etc. Mean Green is 3-3 and could easily be 4-3. So...all good this morning.

Go Mean Green...go get that very elusive road win at La Tech next Saturday!

I guess that victory over Bye would make us 4-3. Pardon my early morning smartassness. Helluva win that we had to have.

4-2

We didn't deserve to beat Ohio.

I'll give you that. 4-2 would be nice, but 3-3 is about where I expected this team. Could finish 9-3 or 3-9. Most likely somewhere around 6-6 or 7-5. 7-5 was my original prediction. Edited by unt_rocket09

Right, we could be 5-1, but should be 4-2.

Agree.

If you had told me at the beginning of the season that we would be 3-3 at this point, I would have been ecstatic. I had us at 2-4 AT BEST.

MTSU was huge, and we finally played a 4 quarter game against solid competition. Still some stupid stuff, like the really dumb personal foul 15 yards behind the ballcarrier returning a fumble for a touchdown, but still a very, very solid effort from the team.

Lots of opportunities ahead for this squad. Can we? Will we?

ATTENDANCE: 21,171

How does a thread go three pages of arguing a fact?

Precisely.

Haters just gonna hate.

The only fact was that in the report they posted the number 21,171.

Which, of course, makes that the official attendance. We all know official attendance is different than actual, but it does represent tickets sold and student tickets distributed, etc. Like it is for every other game attendance over the nation. UNT counts attendance the exact same way everyone else does! Get over it. 21,000 + it was. Enjoy the win. Not much you or I can do about it except to be there and try to bring some folks with us.

Our fans need to stop finding excuses why they won't come and find the reasons why they will come...every game. About all the fans can do. Be part of the solution or be part of the problem. Personal choice. That way the butts in the seats might just come closer to the announced attendance figures.

Good crowd...you will recall that several here were predicting their usual crowd doom and gloom. Maybe it's the same folks arguing attendance numbers in an attempt to justify their usual doom and gloom crap-ola. Could be...is it?

It was a good crowd, not a great crowd, but a good crowd. One day 22K will be considered a bad weather sort of crowd at North Texas, I really believe that.

And didn't the Wing Zone look so much better last night, too, with a nice group of fans sitting in it?

:thumbsd: Low attendance numbers once created a nightmarish' situation (for a school our size) which would define our school for almost a generation and (subsequently) put us in a lower NCAA division of which few of us wanted and one which for sure made many feel like 2'nd class NCAA citizens.

Some harp on this attendance theme because we don't want history to repeat itself; that is, for low attendance averages to define our school anytime in the future. We (and our leaders who have no choice but to come up with a marketing plan) are the only ones who can prevent this from happening again.

(I saw some signs of what could very well be an emerging "butts in seats" marketing program last night--didn't you)? :)

As a proud UNT alum (just like every one of you) I was encouraged with what I saw last night--truly encouraged; but ready to give up with the "we can do better with attendance" posts? I hardly think so.

Right now, we will have to do all we can do to make sure UTSA doesn't completely "Beep Beep" right past our 100 years of playing football school and not so much right now in the wins department but.................(what else)................in the attendance department.. Right now they are kicking ours (and others) butts. After all, how many national articles have we had on our football attendance lately? :(

We somehow have to allow it to sink into all our mindsets that it is really good attendance numbers that defines any NCAA FBS school's football program and also what that program's true aspirations for growth really are; and not so much wins because we know with great crowds ='s better recruiting (per Coach Mac's very words) ='s more wins--a very easy formula for all to see that UNT Athletics must keep on reminding us along with a plan of action we can all follow.

Plus when that day of SRO at every game at Apogee arrives we can put this attendance thing once and for all on the back-burner of our "Concerned About Our Attendance Department." I am so ready for that day to get here....and the sooner the better. Best part is we have the numbers to make this happen so much quicker than most, but (like sales) you have to have a plan with much elbow grease as to pull in those additional numbers. I think all would agree that our UNT culture says all this with screaming 3 inch headlines, too. (And whoever said the things that makes a football program ultimately great would be easy anyhow)?

GMG!
