Students always get free admission. They pay for it through student athletic fees included when they pay their tuition. But, the good move is the promotion and the advertising of same to our students.

Really nice move here. Hope it gets some traction with the students. Awareness helps...so would having little/no rain Saturday. One less excuse for not coming that way!

They have been set up in the library mall all week offering a 5 dollar mccalisters gift card when you get your student ticket as well.

What? No! They can't be reaching out to the students....it's impossible. You mean they are promoting the game to the student body? Really? Sort of like other promos this season...sunglasses and all!

OK, I know too easy...but, hey, this stuff is fun and really easy sometimes. I know it will "stick" a few who claim UNT "never" does this sort of thing, but it is important to note when the facts show that this sort of thing IS being done. Thanks for posting. Glad to see the reach out to the students...it being family weekend and all.

Could it be possible, given decent weather, to see 20,000 plus at the game Saturday? Darn sure hope so...beat the MUTS!

Nice deal, but the incentive should be for going to the game. Why not hand them out at the gate after the students enter the game?

Are they handing out cheap rain ponchos with those gift cards?

I believe the man said they were handing them out when you picked up your ticket for the game! As decent an indication of interest as there might be....nothing keeps one from picking up a towel at the stadium and the heading right back out to the hill. Six of one, half a dozen of another.

First the bitch is, UNT never promotes it's games to its students, when they do, the bitch becomes they don't do it the right way!

Only at North Texas.

I know what you're saying and I'm usually with you, but he's right about this. It makes a lot more sense to give it to someone after/while they enter the gate. most students won't go through the effort of making their way into the stadium without at least staying for a quarter or two, unless they are tailgating and even then some would stay. this will pad the official numbers, but won't add a lot to the "butts in seats" count. maybe they can give another $5 certificate to those that go into the stadium.

Now this kind of stuff seen on that poster gets my adrenalin flowing! :goodjob:

I've even got my rain gear ready. HINT: For you who don't and if your Walmart has sold out of what you need, uh THIS............. a 39 gallon Hefty outside yard back with a hole cut at the top for your cranium will work just fine:.

Question? Are they still saying "no umbrellas" inside Apogee? If so, some need to know that, especially all the newbies.

So yes, we just have to reach out and touch someone to get all the new fans who we all know will love their "Apogee Experience" once we get them thru the turnstiles for their first visit.

I believe we have the staff to make this all work, but I still think we need to make this a campus wide/alumnus wide project (or challenge) beginning with (I repeat).........the Office of the Presidency (Rawlins) and his BOR's. IMO, this is just how important this is for our entire school.

GMG!

This is a good idea to get butts in the seat, but sounds like we're implementing SMU attendance reporting ... not butts in the seat, but tickets sold! :)

Curious, can a student get in at the gate if they did not pick up a ticket? If so, then this is a clever idea to get the students to pick up a ticket...

Why is this a topic?

Mostly because most students DO NOT KNOW/remember this.

AND when most people visually see the word "free"- they think they would be missing out on the opportunity to take advantage. IT's a promotion.... but really all they're doing is making posters. AND it just might work.

But most students do. They put that on pretty much every promotional poster.

Just for the record, and give me a chance to complain, something needs to be done about the counter staff in the ticket office. Went to pick up my season tickets, a group of four students were waiting at the counter (no one behind the counter) and another group of students waiting behind them. Someone was in the office (on the computer but we were visible through the window) and someone else texting on his cell phone at the other end. It took a while before someone else came out of the offices to start helping people. They asked the person on the computer to come out and help; then the one on his cell phone quit texting and got busy too. Not very good customer service; I can understand why students don't bother. Just glad I have my tickets and don't have to darken those doors again.

Rant over.
