The point is they don't sell beer to the masses, rehab is for quitters, the Volstead Act was repealed a long time ago, beer & football go together, and this is Murica!

To hell with the standard operating procedures of SEC & Big XII no drinking light weights! George Washington & Sam Adams would agree. Good bless these United States!

Good post.

Well what do you want RV to do about people outside of the university who are slowing this process down? ... person causing the problem >>> :punish1:<<< RV

I really could care less about this issue. I just think that it is funny (in a sad way) that there are so many excuses made for why we can't do something by so many people at UNT (fans, administration, freaking everyone) and it is never anyones fault.

Its always this mysterious regulation, or that mysterious regulation, or someone's fault that (conveniently) doesn't hold employment at UNT anymore.

Just get the F'n job done or get out of the way. And if you don't want to sell beer at the stadium because of the many headaches it could cause, just say so.

Really tired of the appearance of a complete lack of accountability.

The Volstead Act has nothing to do with it. That was a federal law. States can make their own laws regarding alcohol sales. Entities are free in the United States to serve it or not...as you say, God Bless these United States...for the freedom to not sell it.

Sort of like crime stats and child abuse rates.

Basically what TFLF said. Don't want more drunks ruining the experience potentially.

Then why are we allowing drinking during tailgating? Plenty of people over drink there because they know they can't drink inside. If alcohol is evil and has no effect on attendance, we should ban it in the parking lots too.

good point.

oh you were being facetious?

fact: drinking leads to drunkenness. look it up.

edit #2: I was in a fraternity, I should know this. My opinion puzzles you therefore, no?

So your opinion is we should ban drinking at tailgating, and that it will not affect attendance?

For the record: I don't drink.

I have no problem with people getting drunk as long as they for the most part stay away from me. I can't really avoid the drunks to my left and right seats in apogee.

And yes, I realize I can go tell an usher that the slobbering drunk is falling over my kids and vomiting on them, etc. that's no fun either. Just saying, things like this can and do happen. I've been to rangers games and other professional sports events where crazies live.

Could it be managed better, sure it could. I'm just saying my preference would be to vote no on prop. 1.

People are in different phases of life. Not everyone will agree with this (although I do, because I'm in the same stage of life w/little ones).

I don't mind beer sales in Apogee, but whoever is serving needs to be trained hardcore not to overserve. Not only for my kids' ears sake (or I've actually been spilled all over at the ballpark by some drunk morons), but mainly for the University's sake. Because it only takes one person who got drunk off of beer at Apogee hitting someone else in their car to get the University in some very hot water financially. Most people aren't going to get drunk off of beers at Apogee (especially the nasty crap they're likely to serve (bud,coors,miller,etc...)), but it just takes one.

Try to focus, KRAM.

Ok, let's focus..

According to today's Dallas morning News article.... And I quote "Fans could be able to buy a brew by early next year at Ford Stadium and Moody Coliseum". Next year? Seems this is not completely settled as yet...guess why? SMU has not as yet filed the proper paperwork with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission for the required permit. I quote again "on the SMU athletics website, athletic director Rick Hart wrote last week that alcohol sales are 'something we are studying'". That sounds a whole lot like the position UNT is in at the same exact time.

I quote the SMU AD further "As you are likely aware, the distribution of beer on a college campus encompasses a number of issues which must be properly vetted".

Two headlines of the article...

1). "SMU LOOKS at beer sales". And

2). "SMU might let football! basketball fans buy beer".

So, let's focus and see where this "Genius" AD is on the whole question....seems to be at the exact spot our AD is at with the question.

Did you and Emmitt get together to figure out how the best way it is to post misleading information so you can play the "everything is screwed up at UNT but oh so wonderful everywhere else" game?

Really a bit beneath you to pull this big guy! Both schools are still very much in the process. Neither have made the final decision. But, I really doubt either see it as any sort of race or see it as any sort of one- upmanship.

KRAM, KRAM, KRAM, my good man. You should know good and well that Mike and I don't have to get together to make our university (or you) look foolish. The fact that we, and many others, can find plenty of opportunities to do so individually must strike you as a collective effort but I assure you it is not. I don't mean to ruffle your feathers to the point that you threaten legal action against me (cuz that would just be crazy, huh?) but I'm afraid you've finally stepped over the boundary from irrelevant to downright annoying in my book. I can't stop you from being RV's unpaid SID and apologist but please try to at least soft sell your watchdog duties.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll leave you to shoe-horning in things like crime stats and child abuse. You know, because your many PM's crying about me being too "personal" sure don't smack of hypocrisy in the least when your best rebuttal is to make not so veiled references to my profession. Again I ask, jelly or syrup?

Does this mean I am back to being your #1 Man crush? Heck it took you mere 13 min.to get that response out. Johnny will be very sorry to hear this. Donuts...dunk in milk or coffee? Bake cookies at 350 or 325 degrees? Chocolate chip or peanut butter? So many deep penetrating questions. The object of a man crush just needs to know?

And here I thought I was special.

And SMU is on local TV and in the paper. Ever thought about why? Ever thought about the pressure that brings to grant the license?

Again, they know what they are doing and are doing it. Are we? If we are, it surely isn't on the news or in the DMN.

Like I said, I really don't care one way or another, but the bullshit excuses that this can't be done because UNT can't figure out how to get through the process need to end. If there is any truth to that, we have a completely incompetent AD and school legal staff. I don't believe that is true.

I know we've had a couple articles in the DRC plus NBC5 did a piece as well.

Sorry bro but there's been coverage on NT trying to get beer into Apogee as well.

That's what you get for thinking. How's the bright light? How many suits do you own? Do you prefer jam or jelly? Are you thinking about feeding babies?

UNT was on local TV(NBC 5 I believe) with this as well and there has been more than one article in the local paper. Get it right or get off the pot! If you are going to try to play the "everything is bad at UNT" game at least do your homework. Stop relying on Emmitt to call...you know how he handles that sort of thing. Seems SMU and UNT are at the same point with their "excuses" regarding the issue. Edited by KRAM1

?

Someone needs to post the facts here to counter the constant BS and misinformation from folks who have some personal axe to grind and want to always portray UNT in the very worst light possible. As long as there is a cadre of haters I will do my best to at least try to post the facts so folks will realize that some just have a personal agenda to exploit and will at least have the chance to see what's going on for themselves.

You want to post the hate...I'll take care of the positive side. Just a difference in perspective. Sorry it bothers you so much. You'll get over it. Game day tomorrow. Should give you plenty to bitch and moan about even when the Mean Green wins. Just try to call and get the info straight before you do. Milk or coffee for dunking those donuts?

I will be happy to stop having to post this as soon as the haters stop posting the half-truths and inuendos to push some personal vendetta.
