Forevereagle, I didn't mean to make it sound like I disagree with you. It just makes me uncomfortable to try and compare a pregnancy to an injury. I don't think the two should be in the same sentence.

I see where you are coming from. I was simply trying to convey how unfairly she is being treated and the only comparable thing I could come up with was an injury. I guess academics could also equate.

and when Jordan and Chris flunked......... I was for pulling their scholarships. They were brought here to play ball .......AND THEN get an education. Let's be real for a second in that these kids were not chosen to come here on academic scholarship....they were brought here to be ATHLETES...... and should perform as such.

I just get a little peeved when I see people take advantage of the situation they are in. I'm not saying she did this on purpose, of course, but the fact remains that due to her careless mistake or ill-advised decision.......she is unable to perform what she was brought her to do. The kid who punched the glass or whatever should be in the same boat if he had to miss most of the season.

Kendrick Davis missed about 8 games if I recall correctly. He was also one of the 2 best players on the team...and i actually think his injury improved Calvin Watson's game (before that Watson was more of a spot up shooter, but he found other parts of his game after), and the team, since we had to learn how to play without him. Once he came back it took a couple of weeks to readjust team chemistry, but then we really took off..

When I still lived in Hell...I mean, Pennsylvania, there was a couple that went to our church, and they were marathon runners. They were also the sponsors/advisors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Ursinus College. When Kris was pregnant, she stayed in shape, training and running until the doctor said it was too close to the due date. Not only did she have a really easy pregnancy, but she was back to training pretty fast. I don't remember exactly how fast, but I want to say it was around 2 weeks. So if there are no problems with the pregnancy and you stay as close to your peak form as possible, you can ostensibly be back pretty quickly.

Joe, pregnancy is a protected status. NT would be in an instant lawsuit if the school terminated her scholarship due to her being pregnant. It be the same as an employer terminating an employee due to pregnancy.

I'm not literally saying we should pull the scholarship but it pisses me off to no end that this situation exists in the first place

On a related note, everybody be sure to never name a daughter Chastity. It tends to be a very ironic moniker.

It is only semi-protected. If you go out on maternity leave your employer is not required to keep paying you (outside of any standard vacation/PTO). Under FEMLA they can't fire you over it, as long as you meet the requirements of FEMLA.
