No other phrase could describe Tulane football's revitalization from last weeks drubbing at Syracuse or what happened against the Warhawks last year to a 31-14 non-conference victory at University of Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Just a week ago, Tulane lost 52-17 to Syracuse amid special teams embarrassments (three blocked kicks), a slow start on defense, a lack of running game and faulty protection of quarterback Nick Montana. Those snafus were firmly memories as the Green Wave atoned all four issues against the Warhawks (2-3 overall, 0-0 in the Sun Belt).

Tulane (3-2, 1-0 in Conference USA) recovered two fumbles on ULM punt returns, returned another fumble for a touchdown, started fast on defense, gained 267 rushing yards and allowed only one sack of Montana. It resulted in the best season start since 2003 which is the last time the Green Wave started off 3-2.

Is there a reason to think Monroe is any good?

Resounding win against a Monroe? That seems like a bit much

Lets just go in there and destroy Tulane. I don't think it will be easy lets just get it done.

They went into Lamo and beat a team in its house that has a lot of returning players and was a bowl team. Last year.

That is pretty impressive.

you know good and well that this ULM team is not the same as last year's. Even Browning got pulled last night for not performing..... last year he was called a poor man's JFF

And before anyone brings up the 70-7 Baylor score, Baylor is putting up that kind of offense against everyone.

Cant look past Tulane. Can't guarantee it as a win.

The fact that ULM handed them at least three turnovers is also being conveniently forgotten.

Good thing Tulane isn't playing a team that excels at the takeaway...wait, they are.

Our team has shown evidence of improved leadership and maturity both on and off the field this year. The next area in which real change MUST be proven is how road trips are handled.

Until we show ability to win on the road, I won't feel overly confident about any game away from Apogee.

2-13 is not a good road record (under D Mc) but here are those 13 losses:

OOC:

Georgia

LSU

Bama

Kansas State

Ohio

Houston

Tulsa

and conference losses on the road to:

ULL

ULM

WKU

MTSU

FIU

Arkansas State

And, I think every one of those conference teams we lost to on the road....went to bowls the year that we lost to them.

So if you're gonna keep throwing out the 2-13 road record.....it should be examined more closely than just the record

Still, winning on the road is an acquired taste that needs to become a regular good acquired taste experience We all hope that the road menu provides a good tasting experience for our Mean Green.

And who out there ever thought that most all our CUSA opponents would have not been getting it all together by the time they would play North Texas anyhow? :(
