Good signs for the UNT D-Line we were so worried about

So, about the line: Not a terrible day, but not a good one either. At one point in the first half North Texas only rushed four, no blitzers, and Murray still had to scramble soon after the snap. As for run defense, much like the Clemson game there wasn’t much of a push up the middle. Maybe it’s because the lineup from the South Carolina game (Kolton Houston at left guard and Theus at right tackle) wasn’t used. Maybe David Andrews and Chris Burnette had a down game. And it was obvious that North Texas stacked the box on running downs. The outside rushing lanes weren’t really there either. It looked like North Texas had it scouted well, which shouldn't be surprising considering its coach was an assistant at Florida. (Georgia North Texas Observations Link)

If we are able to get pressure with just four against a team like Georgia you have to be encouraged about the rest of the season. I thought Richard Abbe had a heck of a game and I also thought Boutwell, Sarge and Mason played well.

I agree that the DL is looking much much better. I really worry about depth though. We simply can't have any injuries here, and they've got to hold up for the next 9 games. But yeah--I thought they played really well overall last weekend.

I haven't been tracking it (and can easily research if needed), but off-hand did anyone notice if Sir Calvin has been in the game since Idaho?

I looked and didn't see him. Saw lots of Austin Orr, though.
