Neat story he shared - evidently the manager of the hotel where all of the SEC opponents that Georgia plays at stay called UNT Director of Operations Scotty Conley and said that he had not seen a more polite and well behaved group of players ever stay there... wow that is just a testament to the impact of Mac on this program.

It made me remember a certain towel situation that occurred in the Simon regime and how embarrassing that was. Again just another example of how Mac has fixed the foundation of this program. GMG!

That's awesome! Who knew it was possible to play good football AND mold the players into good husbands and fathers.

Indeed...think that could be possible in men's basketball as well?

In all seriousness...this is a testament to the work Mac and Company is doing to create a great team AND a great and positive reputation for UNT overall and the football program in particular. He knows, as do most of us, that most of these players end their competitive football careers at UNT, and will be professionals in something other than football.

This shows respect for others, respect for the team, respect for UNT and personal respect. Great story. Very proud to be a member of the Mean Green Nation.

Not the towel incident! That was the worst. When it first happened on the busses it was funny watching the guys who took towels return them. However, when the other busses were doing the same thing and we could see how many players were involved it started looking really bad. Plus, the police were overseeing the return. Totally shameful. I walked into the Tavern that night when we got home and everyone already knew about it. Including the news. Awful.

Hey...how was the crowd tonight at the show? Really really hated to miss this one.

Filled the main dinning room again.

when was the towel incident and at what game?

Idaho, I'm pretty sure. The towels were decorated with fancy Idaho mountain landscapes, and would have been pretty tempting as souvenirs.

EDIT: Whoops, it was Utah State. Here you go:

North Texas had its players return the towels before they left Logan. North Texas coach Matt Simon then ordered his team to clean up their home stadium Sunday as punishment. He considered sending them to a nearby department store's white sale, but quickly realized they'd actually enjoy that.

"We've had that happen quite a bit," Baugh Motel manager Elizabeth Maughan said of towel nabbings. "We've had some teams from California take them. We had one coach make the team bus pull over and empty their suitcases."

This is why my favorite part of "Beyond the Green" is hearing Mac end each post-game speech with a reminder to the men of his expectation that they represent themselves, their families, and the program well off the field.
