Surely he must know that. He probably doesn't know we also have beaten the Florida Gators, though it was before they joined the SEC.

I thought it was Florida State that we beat in a snow storm or something like that.

Was Tennessee in the SEC when we beat them? The SEC is about a half century old, right? So if that's correct then maybe they weren't in the conference when we beat them, though I would have to assume they have been conference mates with most of those teams for quite some time. I know I'm just nitpicking but I don't know much about Tenn. so there might be a caveat in there somewhere...either that, or he just didn't do his research :P

Woot woot he edited it...now it says "rarely" and mentions the win "sometime in the 1970s". If only he could edit his spelling and grammar errors when fixing the factual ones...

Florida was a founding member of the SEC in 1932 so they were a member in 47 when we beat them. Tennesse certainly was a member when we beat them. Technically, we have two wins agains Mississippi State although those were forfiets.

He does? His job at the DRC is UNT beat writer.

I'm under the impression that he does a lot more with the DRC such as helping to put the entire paper together. In this day I can't imagine the DRC could afford to have him only cover UNT.

I'm sure Vito is a very hard worker since he does much more than just cover UNT sports but his fact checking and grammar skills are a bit lacking.

His Follicles are lacking on top of his dome as well... HORRIBLE Fact-Checking for Vito, imo.

No, when they put together the annual football magazine he directs that. But his job is absolutely and primarily to cover UNT sports. They can afford it because of their affiliation with Belo and the DMN.

If that's true then I'll need to be less forgiving of him. More Vito bashing for all!

I sent him an e-mail regarding the comment. Just got a reply back basically denying he said NT had never beaten an SEC team by referring me to his "rarely beaten" correction. I guess if it disappears it can be denied that it was said. :zoro:

4-43 after Saturday :lolu:

True, but we're all supposed to remember that it's actually 47-0 in moral victories. My guess of 4-65 was WAY overinflated (overdeflated?).

Reading Vito a lot of times it seems he is not aware of much NT history prior to his coverage. However, it is a blog; so I doubt there is a lot of research involved.

Love or hate Vito, unfortunately he is about 90% of the outside coverage that NT gets.
