I agree, UNT90. Dodge's arrogance, naivete' and ego apparently would not allow him to choose an actual college coaching staff when he could and should have. If he had done so he might still be head coach.

They say hindsight is 20/20, but apparently it's also a raging b-word to Todd Dodge.

Dodge did a lot of things wrong. He did a few things right.

Dodge wanted to keep some of dd's coaches & rv told him to get rid of all of them. This was from coach Russell.

Dodge had no help hiring coaches nor mentoring them from coach rv after he hired him. So, the conversation should include rv here, especially if you are telling us if td was good or bad.

It's hard to believe there are people on this board falting the football coaches & basketball coaches w/o talking about the person responsible for the problems developing (then praising rv in their next post).

It was obvious dodge didn't know what he was doing but rv & let him do all the things he did, right ( ie. for all the rv supporters).

Therefore, td did exactly what rv let him do- understand! By the way, the 8 years of loses were brought to you under rv's direction or can you spin that around?

Looking what we have today in football- Dan was found by a professional search team brought in by Lane. So, give Lane praise/ distain for those results.

If there is a lick of truth to what Eric Russell said about the coaches from the DD regime being removed, per RV's orders, I suspect that Dodge was doomed from the start. Seriously, I doubt this is true. NO AD worth his salt would ever do this to a new coach. I'm no RV fan, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here, even when I don't want to. Its just too ludicrous to think that RV would order Todd Dodge to not keep even one coach from the previous regime. Even for recruiting purposes and for some sense of stability, usually at least 1-2 coaches fromt he previous regime will stick around. It looks to me as if the head coach chose not to keep any of those old assistant coaches around, rather he went after high school coaches that he knew really well. And that led to a 2-10 record in the first year under a HS defensive coordiantor that cannot even keep a job in high school today, all with a decent amount of defensive talents left behind by Dickey. Remember that Dickey's teams didn't struggle defensively, they just couldn't score points, which usually led to a defense that eventually wore down by the 4th quarter against most non-AQ opponents in his last two years.
