Rice should be above SMU... Heck, we might be able to beat SMU. I was not too impressed with them.

That's about the only thing I would change , Rice & SMU

Posted

didn't Smu come in 7th? With Rice at 8th? And only Utep below us

We need to climb that ladder.

UTEP,Texas State, and UTSA were below us. I think 9 of 12 is where we should be at this point in the season.

Because they have not earned anything yet

How have they not earned anything yet?

UTSA has consistently brought 35k to the house and I wouldn't be surprised if they bring 45k for Ok State and when we come to town. They hired a proven winner in Larry Coker and even knocked off New Mexico, a game many including myself picked them to lose. If they make a bowl game and UNT doesn't, what will you say then? They made a bowl game too quickly?

Texas State is also earning their stripes. While their attendance is horrible, they did beat us last year, something that UNT couldn't do and as a matter of fact got blown out. They also hired a proven winner in Dennis Franchione, a guy with a reputation of turning bad programs around. This is only their 2nd year of being FBS and they have already outrecruited UNT and if they make a bowl game this year and UNT doesn't, what will you say then? They played in the Sun Belt? I really hope you won't say that because UNT couldn't make a bowl in the Sun Belt after the teams adjusted to FBS (then 1A).

What has UNT done in the last 5 or 10 years for that matter to determine whether or not someone has "earned something"? If you want to stretch things further, what has UNT done in their entire history? What major conference have they been in? How many Heisman trophy winners? How many All-Americans has UNT produced?

I never thought I'd defend UTSA or Texas State but your post really rubbed me the wrong way.

Well let them play D1 for 18 years and have a history of 100 years, but first year D1, get over yourself. Maybe you should rub yourself more.

I know you're mostly nothing more than a troll on this board, but sometimes I can't contain myself when you say things without any facts. Out-recruited us??? Really? You have absolutely no facts to back that baseless claim, but then again, you're nothing but a troll, nothing but a troll...

I understand you might not count them, but everyone else seems to. That includes sports writers, University ADs, the NCAA, the BCS, conferences, etc. Regardless of what they may or may not have earned, their games count dfferently than Sam Houston or Texas Southern. For FBS teams, their games count the same as everyone else does.

The time to question the validity of either school in FBS is past. They are FBS schools now so we might as well treat them that way.

Greg Tepper: I hate the word "gutty" to describe how a team plays, but I can't think of any better term to describe the Roadrunners' effort against New Mexico. There are a number of times where other teams would've lied down, and Larry Coker's crew never did. -Dave Campbell's Texas Football Power Poll

A 99-yard touchdown drive with three minutes left gave the Roadrunners an eight-point lead and a defensive stop near midfield clinched the game.- SportsDay DFW by The Dallas Morning News

Man you are not getting me, they are rookies yet to prove anything. Most people I know are going to wait and see.
