They brought in Zach Paul for Olen, and the problem seemed to be solved. Olen seems to kick every kick with that low trajectory like he's trying to hit a 50-yarder. He might become our long distance specialist. Or at least leave PATs to Zach Paul.

Yeah, the blocked kick was really low. The missed XP was just a shank.

I believe that the problem may be over as it looks as if Zach Paul will kick the extra points. Zach Olen will do field goals, kickoffs and punt in special situations. Paul kicked 140 consecutive extra points in high school. He gets the ball up quicker than Olen but he doesn't have his distance. If true, score one for Coach Perry. As Marty said, "he sure has improved special teams". Punt and kick returner Chancellor is back to being his old self.

One of my main concerns every year, for as long as I can remember, has been our inability to execute during Punt returns. If my math is right, our punt return yardage Saturday was more than the past 7 years combined! Happy, Happy, Happy!

Our kicking game was just as big a reason that we lost at home against Troy as DT's poor play was. We didn't have to kick any FGs against Idaho, but I suspect that this week, those opportunities for points are going to involve FGs. If we cannot make those, especially on the road, we won't win more than a few more games, IMHO.

I will say this, though. DT played great, Chancellor proved to be a playmaker (again), and the defense looked good in the opener. We have two games on the schedule that we all should expect that UNT should win--this was one of them, along with UTSA later this year. I think that it is a good signthat we took care of business against a really bad team at home in a dominating fashion. To me, that shows progress. Last year, Texas Southern and South Alabama respresented those two automatic wins, but those games were oddly closer than they should have been. This Idaho game was pretty much over by the 2nd quarter.

Speaking of Chancellor, anyone else besides me hopes that we groom another punt returner during games that have clearly decided by the fourth quarter? I'd sure hate to take a chance on Chance' getting hurt running back a punt in a meaningless game.

Should be Jones. I have a feeling that Jones could be just as electric.
