A 6-3 vote just to form a freaking committee. Increase won't happen because the majority of the BOR doesn't care about athletics.

And you know this how? How about listing each member of the BOR and show their stance on athletics?

Well..at this point we have no idea how this will go. Being willing to at least explore the possibility is at least a positive move. They could have made an outright "no" answer. I'll take this and see where t goes. Will be interesting to see which BOR member is on the committee.

I honestly was not trying to be confrontational. Just curious if you had any known facts about how each member of the board feels about athletics, or if this is purely opinion.

I trust UNT90. Very little opinion in his statements.

A 5 year contract extension tells me everything I need to know.

Again, what an person or entity DOES means far more than what they SAY.

You are 100% correct here. Acta Non Verba!

Talk is cheap and we have plenty of that around these days...it is the "doers" we need more of to take this program to the next level.

Really proud of UNT90 (and many others) for being those "doers" we need. 90 does a ton of negative chat these days, but you can always rely on him to come through with action and support as well. He "votes" with his actions, so his "glass half empty" approach is respected because he is not " that guy" that is nothing but talk. His actions speak much louder than his words.

Maybe so, but the board also has new members and by looking at the changes in facilities the past few years, I wouldn't call them anti-athletics.

Keep it up, UNT90. You are spot on about all of this. There is a huge difference in building new facilities to replace crumbling, decrepit, outdated ones and actually funding a program properly. Just because we have the new facilities that are a breath of fresh air to all of us, doesn't make the job complete. Funding an athletic department correctly involves facilities and personnel. Personnel should be fired or extended because of their W/L record or in the ADs case how the $$$ sports are doing. We don't do that here and never have. We fire people when it is cost effective. Extending RV after the last 8 years of football, the continued losing int he women's basketball program, and the absolute debacle of hiring Tony Benford with your most talented team of any sport in 35 years at the school only reinforces the view that the AD at UNT is to run his office the cheapest way possible for the BOR and administration. Only charging half the athletic fee that freaking UTSA and Texas State confirms it. Obviously, at bare minimum, 1/3rd of the BOR hates athletic spending, and I'm willing to bet that another 2 or 3 will eventually be swayed to follow their lead.

Show us differently and we will post our support of this proof. Otherwise, its the same ol song and dance as far as I'm concerned about UNT athletic funding.

The fact that the university President goes before them, begging for additional funding, and their only response is to "form a committee" is further proof.

Throw on top the failure to protect the Athletic fee in the legislature (a fee that I am sure the BOR was shocked and disappointed that it made it past the student vote) and the failure to raise the fee as allowed for really paints an accurate picture.

They simply don't care about athletics, and I find myself feeling why the hell should I if they don't?

And that feeling gets stronger every day.
