You know, if you ever get the chance to see an old concert video of Pudwagon with Gary Richrath, you've got to see it. His facial expressions and butt-wagging are priceless. He had a kind of cool "whistling" noise-guitar solo style, too. Very unique.

I got to meet Gary when I worked a concert he was doing back around '90. The dude is a character.

Vito's blog today confirms that it is their mantra for getting 6 wins and becoming bowl eligible...

That is his goal? Really

Not a winning season, not 12, or 11 not 10 or 9 wins not 8 or even 7 for the winning season but 6 to have a tied season.

Now that is freaking leadership, aim high, aim Chico high.

God I hope our defense can carry the team.

Agreed, if this is true then this is beyond embarrassing. Even as a coach of youth teams, I'd never dream of setting .500 as an end goal before the season even started.

You know what's embarrassing? People here actually interpreting this as our team's ultimate goal.

They're going to go into every game to win it. Stop crying as if they circled 6 games as losses.

I hope not but it sounds like it. Maybe people around here should start demanding more.

Well, it does say "hit 6" and not "finish with 6". Maybe it's short for "hit 6 as fast as we can first and then see what our end of season goal should be," but that would be a bit long to squeeze all together with a hashtag.

Does that mean Jordan Gill quit? Or changed positions?

Canales posted a picture on twitter a couple of days ago of him & his QB's, there's a #11 there but it doesn't look like Gill. Not sure how to link it.

I have no issue with setting achievable but difficult goals. 6 wins or more is not going to be easy this year. It would certainly be a huge step in the right direction, and it is a meaningful number of wins. Honestly I will be astonished if it happens, but it IS doable. We are where we are. In the overall scheme of things, yes it's deplorable that 6 wins against this competition is a stretch for North Texas in 2013, but we have to look forward, at least that is, as long as we can keep looking.

      Same here. I am tired of trying to convince my group to re-enlist their time and money to football at UNT. On the other hand I have no issues getting excited for basketball. We have a basketball program that is deserving of our support!

      Odus Mitchell - What Exactly are Too High Standards at UNT?

      We have only had 4 coaches [I missed Jack Sisco] since 1913 out of a total of 18 who exited North Texas with winning records, Hayden Fry being the last in 1978. Goals and objectives must be realistic and obtainable with a little pie in the sky. Quite honestly I have no idea what we our standard should be, only what it has become . However, expect more are you will get less ,which seems to be the norm for our football program.

      I’ll say this as well - There are people in my group of 20+ season ticket holders that have held them since 2003 questioning if they’ll renew next year because it’s not fun anymore. It feels hopeless after 20+ years. They’re just saying, I’ll keep supporting basketball because at least we have a real program and coaching staff that we can all believe in through wins and losses. No one believes in the football coaching staff - except Patrick Cobbs - who we might as well elevate to HC. He’s the only one that actually produces and legitimately gives a shit about UNT. This program’s situation is dire whether the AD realizes it or not.

      I certainly am not making excuses for the termination of Caponi and agree that it was overdue. However I am surprised that our AD and not HC was the one who reportedly pulled the trigger. I owned a medical device sales agency for 30 years and can testify that no one like firing an employee. In fact those who do , unless its a really egregious act, usually wait longer than the should because the real mistake was made by you in hiring them in the first place. Having said that I have never terminated an employ that didn't expect it and in most cases were relieved that the ax finally dropped.
