The pilot was at work. The rest weren't.
Everyone was dressed up for the press conference. This discussion is ridiculous. If I'm traveling somewhere, I'm not wearing a tie and jacket -- but if I am at an event I will.
He seemed to realize that UNT has made a significant investment in athletics and that it is a window into our university. To me the fact that the Chair of the BOR and Chancellor of the UNT System were in attendance was important. As to whether or not the President is a sports guy or not I really couldn't tell. However he was very approachable and willing to listen to others . As a side note, D Rob [ our new coaches nickname ] seems like the real deal. I was somewhat apprehensive when his hiring was first announced but came away from this meet and greet feeling very positive.
He was the best athlete on the field. However, this was class 3A ball in Oklahoma. A lot of small slow unathletic guys he was running against. I'm not saying he's bad, just temper the expectations. For comparison, On 3 had him as the 29th best recruit in Oklahoma.
Unclear at this point. I suppose the same concern can be expressed for the AAC when its media deal is renegotiated now that that all the desirable content has departed. Regardless, on-average, the PAC-12 is working with a higher base than the AAC so will likely continue to outspend us. By that metric, it will be perceived (rightly or wrongly) as a notch above the rest of the G5.
