Every band kid knows that up in the stands, water isn't for drinking: It's for filling up unattended brass instruments. Just like Icy-Hot and Orajel.

Back around the turn of the century (1999-2003) when I was in high school, we practiced out in the parking lot from about 3:30 till 5. In July and August when the NWS declared a heat advisory we cut out about 30 minutes early. About 4 or 5 times we had to cancel and postpone practice until about 7pm because of the heat. We would be able to take our jackets off for really hot games, but still had to wear the pants. And had to have a band T-shirt on under the jacket so we would still match. Other than shoes, that's all some of us would wear to some games. I remember a particularly steamy Week 4 game in 2002 we played Galveston Ball down on the island and sat with the Sun facing us. This is after riding the cheese wagons for a few hours all the way from the North side of Houston in the afternoon heat. Barely anyone wore underwear. The dry cleaners in town made a killing that next week...

Hot, nasty, disgusting polyester/wool blend military marching band uniforms that had been around since the early 80s. Flaming hot chrome buttons and crossbelt buckles. Good times.

If I can wear full FR attire all day in a gas plant those sissies can wear a uniform during a football game.

I don't know what "FR" attire is, but a "uniform" is by most definitions the standardized clothing of the same color that is worn by all members of a group or organization. Baseball caps, polos, and khaki shorts easily fall into that definition. Wearing heavy uni's (made of wool or wool blend) in Texas heat (90 or above) when you have a viable alternative is downright reckless.

I wouldn't be surprised would expect if/when new uniforms are purchased to see the "SOW" replace that logo. After all, we did have the original "Flying Worm" on the band uniforms from the mid-70s to the early 80s.

Yep, they had the most recognizable icon in North Texas history on the front, and NTSU on the back. There was no doubt as to what University Band that was. And now with the current unis, you have to be a few feet away before you can tell.

If I were in charge of selecting the new uni's the "enron" logo would go, and there would be a big alumni NT-star either on the back or front. And the SOW would be on the other side. The band is there, first and formost to promote/instigate North Texas spirit. To put it in more basic terms, they are there to wave the North Texas flag. Their uni's and music should reflect that.
