I've been around for a long time and paid my dues so I'll chime in on any thread I want to, thanks.

I dont doubt that but that isnt relavent here. I never questioned your loyalty, just trying to suggest how to grow it from others by posting examples of other more successful programs. So when was the last practice you attended from Corpus? The last game?

If you read the first article, UT is only allowing people in for the first week of practice. You know, the time when everyone runs the same types of drills. BFD.

Come on ...man?? It's football practice, not marching band!

It wouldn't be tradition with out FFR complaining about something this time of season....that is one Tradition that NEVER dies.

LOL, thank you. If by me showing you how other more successful programs are utilizing a tool to grow their fanbase is seen as a complaint, then you prove my point. That's how low our expectations are, and our fanbase truly thinks we are at our pinnacle.

First day of practice must be a BFD in Tuscaloosa, too? I wonder why? Afterall, they have hundreds of thousands of fans?

http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2013130809914

TUSCALOOSA | A couple of thousand University of Alabama football fans lined up for autographs from coach Nick Saban and his players Sunday afternoon, with some fans even camping out all weekend at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Chris Phillips of Grove Oak and Nikki Richter of Rainsville were the first in line, camping outside the stadium since 10 p.m. Friday, even enduring the rain Saturday underneath a tarp. Its the fifth year that Phillips has participated in Fan Day, he said.

I love it. Its worth every minute, said Phillips, who added that his favorite autograph hes gotten over the years is either Sabans or former Tide running back Trent Richardsons, who is now with the NFLs Cleveland Browns.

On Fan Day, members of the Alabama football team held practice inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Some fans watched practice from inside the stadium, while other fans reserved their spots in line for the post-practice autograph session. During the practice, the front of the line started inside the south end zone and curved around the inner walkway of the stadium to the north end zone, then outside the east side of Bryant-Denny and by 4:30 p.m., all the way to sorority row. The fans waited without air conditioning in the 92-degree heat, with the heat index close to 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Once the practice was over, the gates opened and fans rushed onto the field, running to their favorite athlete set up at tables for autographs.

Pfffffttt...those fools... showing up to see the same drills EVERYONE else runs this time of year!

Practice season, and making a stink?

"Only here!" I consistently think.

Don't tsk-tsk and cluck cluck,

You should offer more bucks!

And of course, come and join me for drinks!

Good Lord. Maybe Coach Mac wants to minimize distractions but does it matter? He's been a D1 coach much longer and has much more experience in preparing a team than any of us on here. It is his show, so let's let him do what he thinks is best. Honestly, I could care less what every other team does.

Open practices are great! Just like anything that is put on the table that is new (or not been part of our culture of late) it will take time to build this, too. First thing is letting more know these 3 practices will now be open to them.

UNT has been negligent in doing this open to the public practice thing for too many years. I think CUSA membership and seeing other schools in our league have lights out season ticket sales has our people...I repeat "OUR PEOPLE" thinking about more P.R. now than ever.

And no, I've not always agreed with the M.O's of "Our People" but still...they are...... "our people" with our best

interest in mind. Amazing thing is that they don't sit up there and come up with ideas that will be failures or that which could shorten their tenures at UNT. We have to sometimes remember all that even when we don't think that way.

Can We Talk Here? We let too many petty things keep our most diverse fan base as well as GMG.com posters from breaking bread together at the Mean Green Dinner Table. Yes, too much losing has created much of this, but others have lost far worse than we and have still unified their fan base during their own adverse times to put it all together in the name of dear ol' alma mater. If all this is not for or about our alma mater, then just what or who is it for?

Lest we sometimes forget, we are on the same team who want the real Mean Green football team to succeed. If we on this forum of arguably UNT's most enthusiastic cannot drop some of this pettiness and tow the rope then can we really expect less enthusiastic fellow alums/fans among our constituency to pick up this so-called rope?

If Mac wants practices closed and only 3 people want to watch, I doubt the AD is going to accommodate.

I would not mind being wrong.

Last year there were at least three people at the $1000 donor level walk thru.

he practices are closed to the public, although Jones has said he would like to have one open practice, possibly at Neyland Stadium. Details on the open practice are pending, UT said

Ummm...sorry buddy. Gotta read the whole article sometimes. :)

I caught that. The way I read this, no practices are public. There might be one, and that's pending. Really? That's your rebuttal? Would one public practice satisfy you?

I would write RV and Mac, and ask if it's possible one might be made public. They're allowed to change their minds.

How about a petition? Just trying to be constructive about this.
