It appears so !!! and all I was wanting was increased attendance and a upper deck on the student side at UNT...and of course, win games,

More reason to be OK with a split from the power 5?

I think so. It's a single-A budget vs major league budget. Everyone enjoys a good minor league ball club that knows what they are and what they aren't. The non-power 5 are stuck trying to straddle the fence.

Think about this for a second. There are 22 FBS teams in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Of those 22 teams, there are 6 teams that can do something like what Oregon and their Nike money just built with all the money they have--Texas, A&M, OU, OSU, Arky, and LSU.

Sure, Tech, Baylor, TCU, UH, Tulsa, and SMU have resources that can help them compete with those other 6, from conference affiliation to location to just being plain ol' rich. But they cannot beat those 6 teams consistently over the years because of their inherit $$$ advantages in their states. Now, look at the schools in CUSA and the SBC and it becomes even more clear that the Power 5 are eventually gonna circle the wagons here. We can complain about it all we want or try and be defiant about it, but the reality is that the money and power in those 5 leagues and a few chosen others is too much for the strong majority of non-AQs and FCS schools. Let them go--we will still be playing a true form of college football and we just have to hope that we will get to play better recognized compettition during the year than when we were a 1-aa school playing those SLC teams that were labeled pissant by media and by fans because of their size.

Completely agree, untjim.

During the SEC media day coach press conferences, there was obviously a unifed effort to exclaim that players should be paid.

The NCAA voting weight of the non-power 5 is a driving force behind their desire to make the split because the we "have nots" will always fight proposed player compensation plans due to the obvious budget inequality.

If/WHEN a split becomes official, the power 5 will undoubtedly move to paying their players leaving the rest of us as the highest level of competition that can legitimately claim amateurism.

Count me in!

Would/could the NFL replace the NCAA as the governing body of the Power5 conferences? If they vote to start paying student athletes, they might as well let the NFL move in. And the players union would immediately follow. High School Sophomores or Juniors that run a 4.35, forty dropping out of school, signing 5 or even 6 figure deals to play for "name your Power5" team. Am I over the top with this line of thinking?

Why isn't our administration doing more to make us look like this?! This is what we...awww screw it. Jokes and jokes. In all seriousness that's just ridiculous, a lot of the haves will not be able to compete with that.

Yeah, not many schools have a donor who amounts to an pro owner. Maybe Oklahoma State is the only other one.

I can't imagine even UT or Bama coming close to this. Oregon has to have the deepest pockets, maybe with TBoone's OSU a close 2nd.

TCU could play along if they wanted to.

Hard to say at this point. 7-6 last year, but maybe that will be a low point for them.

The remodel of TCU's stadium was all done through private donations, so yes TCU could do what Oregon did regarding their practice facility.

That Nike money is nice.

When you can get a product manufactured in Viet Nam for $5.00, including shipping, fees, tariffs, and whatever other costs are associated with the product, wholesale it for $49.00+, and retail it for $99.00+, you can help build AC's like Oregon.

Boycott Nike.

I'm with you. That's why I wanted NT to go with Adidas as their equipment/uniform provider.
