This story makes me sick...puts things into perspective

Polo Manukainiu was a passenger in a 2002 Toyota Sequoia traveling south on U.S. 550 when the vehicle drifted off of the roadway and the driver over corrected and the vehicle rolled several times, according to New Mexico State police reports.

Manukainiu and another passenger, Andrew “Lolo” Uhatafe, were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police reported.

Not wearing their seat belts?

From looking at the google map, it appears that the road just north of Cuba takes an almost 90 degree turn, followed by a series of curves.

tragic.....very tragic.

Exactly. Seat belts aren't 100% guaranteed to save your life but they will keep you in the car. And undertaking a 22 hour trip when.you know up front that you're sleep deprived. There's no mistaking that this is a tragedy but questionable decisions were made.
