Thoughts on C-USA poll, all-league team

Conference USA released its preseason all-league team and poll earlier today.

We talked a little bit about the basics on the blog this morning.

Now that Ive had some time to do a little digging, here are a few facts that should put where UNT stands in better perspective:

1. This is the first time since 2009 that UNT has not had a player named to the preseason all-league coaches team.

2. UNT and UTEP were the only teams in C-USA that didnt have at least one player named to the squad.

We can spend all day talking about the obvious. Preseason polls and teams dont matter.

Its where you finish the season.

Well, there's always basketball....oh wait, heartbreak there, too.

Preseason polls don't matter, coach's polls don't matter, recruiting polls don't matter. Would it were that this were true. It is a bit disconcerting, however, if we are honest with ourselves, to realize that some of these things actually do matter at least some of the time.

Preseason polls do matter if nothing else in the perception of NT's program. Echoing the above statement, many keep saying that poll and recruiting ratings don't matter even though they unfortunately have been validated by poor results at NT for the past decade.
