Conference USA’s quarterback power rankings are topped by two rising juniors who enjoyed prolific seasons a year ago, followed by a quartet of solid seniors. After that, however, the picture is much murkier.

Five of C-USA’s 14 teams will turn to a first-year starter in 2013. All of them are talented, yet on the flip side all of them are also vastly inexperienced.

10 north-texas-logo.png Derek Thompson Sr. 57.5%, 2,629 PASS YDS, 14 PASS TD, 14 INT The Mean Green have an underrated offensive line, so Thompson should have ample time to throw in his third year as UNT’s starter. The question is to whom, as an upgrade at receiver is sorely needed.

Does Dajon Williams redshirt or does Coach Mac put him in the fray this Fall?

He was in Orangeblood's Top 100 list? Daa'um.....

Nothing matters except what happens on game day. Love it when Mean Green players, team, coaches, etc. get high ratings, don't like the low ratings, but to keep it all in perspective...these guys and their predictions are worthless.

Let's play and see how it turns out.

The most fun is going back after the season and laughing at how far off many of these pre-season ratings and rankings are from reality.

Good luck to all...strap it on and let's see.

Hopefully we can keep the RS on him. That will give him 2 years of eligibility after Brock is gone.

IMHO, we would go to McNulty before we get to Berglund. It would have to get pretty bad before we get to this young man.

Are you talking about this year or the future, specifically? Berglund is our QB of the future, no doubt.

Ok, I have been somewhat of an optimist going into 2013. I am new to following UNT, and only started watching last year. Im starting to get worried now...

DT did not look good at all last year. I expected Burglund to be named starter based on some good reliable sources. Burglund got hurt or whatever, but he or McNulty couldnt take the job from a bad QB.

Are any of these QBs D1 material? Im asking. DT looks like he is not. This dude is a senior. It shouldnt take this long. Sorry, its the truth. Usually a qb brings something to the table. If they are not mobile, they usually have a rocket arm, or they have good acuracy and timing. You have some who cant throw well, but thy can run and scramble to extend plays. DT seems to have no strength, and it seems as if there is little upside. Im sure hes a great guy, but some people just dont have the physical gifts. Probably a good solid backup for most teams.

problem is, no one can clearly beat him out. come on...something doesnt add up. Can trying another qb be any worse? Its not a pass heavy offense. Is the system that hard to learn? I know this is the exception and not the rule, but Utah State threw a true freshman, Chuckie Keaton in a few years ago, and it worked out pretty good. At some point you have to put football talent on the field and see if it can win games.

If Burglund has that much upside, he should be working with the first team. Is he that slow in learning the offense? Are the coaches that scared? Who cant hand the ball off 70-80% of the time?

I will admit the Spring game had different play calling than during the season, but im still worried that they may take the safe route, like during the season. Sometimes you gotta let them hang. If you are gonna lose,.at least go out firing all bullets.
