So what does this do to Tonys chances of making the team? They have alo been in talks with JJ Hickson. Is Mitchell no longer in their plans? Does he get traded? This is pretty bad. I was hoping Mitchell would get a chance and that Smith would sign with Dallas...

I saw that he signed a four year deal straight up. But it would be nice if he went to the hawks at this point.

It mean Mitchell is a rookie and they're trying to improve a terrible team.

Most NBA teams look at a 2nd round pick as someone who will not make the team. There are exceptions, but expecting a 2nd rounder to be in the rotation without even practicing yet is a fantasy. Unfortunately, Smith has a lot of similarities to Mitchell, but is obviously a much better player right now.

Well I was under the impression by people on these boards that he was going to make an impact this season and I was really hoping they were right! I hope that he proves a lot tomorrow in the summer league game.

Don't expect the pistons to make any smart decisions. I stopped following them after 2006.
