Just sad. There are even certain people in the media saying that Zimmerman wouldn't have helped the family if they were black. Like you can look at a car upside down and on fire and the color of the people inside would be the first thing to enter anyone's mind (or that you could even tell their race, for that matter).

So sad that the family that was involved in the wreck is now receiving death threats and that there are absolutely nutty people out there that believe the accident was staged. So freaking idiotic.

Did you guys watch the "Afterburner" episode w/Bill Whittle? Another thought-provoking tack:

Things you will NEVER hear from a media content on stroking racial fires.

The "lean" component is especially relevant. But you NEVER heard that from anyone in the mainstream media, because that doesn't fit their agenda.

Try again. Whites (not latino) are 63% of the US population...unless I'm reading the US census bureau's own statistic incorrectly. And I think this article articulates why counting the total number of each racial group is actually LESS ammo for the "black on black crime" talking point.

And my point isn't that whites are inherently criminal. Far from it. I just find it amusing that, if 84% of whites are killed by other whites, this "epidemic" doesn't get the same traction as the "black on black crime" narrative. I'm not arguing for the creation of a "white on white crime" catch phrase...quite the opposite. I'm just arguing that we should stop running to polarizing catch phrases that attempt to oversimplify and pidgeon hole ANY race.

Maybe in my haste I failed to explain what I meant properly. Take a look at these statistics:

http://www.hhscenter.org/bonbstat.htm

Cover your eyes all you want, but the problem is real. It's just not politically correct to talk about. Just look at the backlash O'Reilly has received. How dare white people comment on black crime.

And yes, I think a lot of it has to do with Socio-economic class. But then you face the uncomfortable discussion of why such a large percentage of the black community is on the lower end of the socio-economic scale.

And I had forgotten that this moron doesn't know that "lean" isn't made out of OTC cough syrup.

And, while we're assassinating the character of either party POST-verdict, let's not forget that Mr. Zimmerman was no angel prior to this altercation.

I'd rather this thread just died a natural death, since we are clearly going in circles and have graduated from discussing the merits of the case to discussing whether blacks have an epidemic problem of criminality. Or, we could continue to pretend that the fact that Trayvon "might" have been making lean is comparable to several arrests for violence.

You are dead on here. If you are going to look at the motivations of one party, you need to honestly look at the motivation of the other party.

Zimmerman was picked to death by the nedia, yet Matin was given a free pass. Why did I not hear about the "Lean" stuff until after trial? Or the fact that Martin had liver damage consistent with lean usage?

Why was that?
