While several UNT offers have been rejected in favor of other schools by some of our recruiting targets , it is nice see us going after players sought by some big name schools. It seems for years this has not been the case. And, if somewhere down the line these players who chose other schools become uuhappy with their choice, they will be aware of UNT.

I agree, and they can't say no if you never ask.

Truer words were never spoken.

I did a little analysis of our offers with this results:

56 - open offers

40 - offers to players rated 3* and above by one of the rating services

07 - offers to 2* athletes

09 - offers to those unrated or unlisted (under the radar)

We may not get very many of these but it's the greatest effort by a recruiting staff since 2001; if not ever.

It is funny that most of our commits rarely come from the athletes that we have posted as offered on this board.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the info and its fun to kinda keep up with, but it seems just about every kid with a perceived better offer takes it.

Sad but true. We aren't winning a ton of recruiting battles these days. We use to be able to win a few against Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, Smu, etc. Now it seems we can barely beat out Lala and Arkie State

Just running through our list of committments from last year on Rivals, I see the following with offers from "big" schools or perceived better conferences:

Chad Davis: also offers from San Jose St., Texas Tech, Tulsa, Utah State and UTEP

Kidsy: no other offers listed, but the rumor was there were many coming in late.

Loving: reported Kansas State offered.

Manu: Memphis, Washington State

Moore: SMU, UTEP

Nelson: La. Tech

Schilleci: Washington State

Smiley: Navy

Scout.com shows offers from:

Loving: Kansas State

Davis: same list

Manu: same list

Brown: Hawaii

Kidsy: Fresno State, Illinois, Miami OH, and Utah

Plus, a number were recruited and offered by Texas State - San Marcos and UTSA.

Sure, it can always improve, but it isn't as bad as some make it out to be.

Outside of Kidsy and Loving, that is a pretty good list of schools that we beat out on for these young men.
