One of the interesting aspects of the proceedings was that around 400 players participated, up from just under 200 last year. There were guys from Texas, of course, but there were also players from Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas and surprisingly just a couple from Louisiana, a state UNT used to recruit heavily. UNT has backed way off the amount of time and energy it spends on the state, but I thought there would be a residual effect.

I remember a few weeks ago I was unhappy bc our QB/DB had been shown no love from the UNT staff. Well I talked to him last week and he will be going to a UNT camp, I was all smiles once I heard that. SMU has already offered, but I'm hoping he sees the light!

Lp QB Jordan Jackson will be at the Deer Park camp on Wednesday. He is really looking forward to visiting with Coach Canales and the rest of the UNT staff.

Texarkana linebacker Anthony Rhone is coached by UNT great Cody Spencer.

I was about to be like, "what?! What happened to Coach Norton??" Then I looked things up and remembered that my high school has an obscene amount of football personnel. That being said. Cool!

Also, anyone else notice that Nathan Tune will be returning??

Far cry from the Fouts days. If you ever don't think facilites are not selling points, think again.

Imagine having an indoor facility, for the Denton camps, on those hot summer days. Would be a solid selling point. Recruits love splashy facilities

Tune is returning to Denton to coach at Denton High. May also still be on the quest to find his missing dog!

Good one, Marty! :)

After all of ours major disappointment with MG basketball with a true NBA talent on last season's team, many of us have gotten very gun shy as to get too optimistic about many things concerning UNT athletics, but for the life of me I am feeling good about Coach McCarney and what he is doing with the football program.

Many of us have now gotten to the level of almost zero tolerance with future W/L records in Denton being above .500 or else.... :) and that because of our having so few winning seasons in football since 1970 (and I will not list the numbers on that)...........

.............but if some things fall in place this Fall for our UNT football team we could possibly even have the kind of season the U of L Rajun Cajun had in the 'Belt 2 years ago when they were picked by pre-season football magazines to finish last in football yet went on to win the SBC, go to the NO's Bowl and then beat the MWC's San Diego State Aztecs in a very exciting game.

I realize many don't much believe that similar Cinderella stories could happen in Denton because of what losing has done to make us a jaded, but maybe we just all need to start believin' in the Mean Green once again?

As bad as its been, North Texas football never got as bad as this Big 12 school as seen on the YouTube video:

OK....here is that video as promised.... :) The opening scenes showing KSU's W/L stats before Snyder arrived are mind-blowing.

Folks, it will soon be "OUR" time.
