Decision time for UMass is coming regarding its future in the MAC in football. When UMass went to the FBS level a few years ago, the MAC took them in the way they accepted Temple, which allowed basketball to remain in the Atlantic 10. But both sides have escape clauses and the word may be that the MAC is ready to tell UMass, if you want to stay in the MAC in football, you have become a full member in all sports, which would mean UMass leaving the rising in stature A10.

If UMass balks at that, they will need to find another conference for their football team, with only Conference USA as the most likely choice, but even that has no guaranteesThe Golf Gods had a busy weekend. At the European Tours Nordea Masters tournament, Australian golfer Andrew Dodt had some interesting moments in posting a score of 65 on Friday. Dodt had not one, but two hole in ones. According to Golf Channel research, only one other PGA player ever managed that-Yusaku Miyazato a the 2006 Reno-Tahoe Open. A day later, Tiger Woods, on his way to a round of 79, posted a nine hole total of 44 on his front ninethe highest 9 hole total in Woods career.

      My honest take

      People see big wins. Beat Memphis who suddenly looks vulnerable, beat Tulane, beat Army, win the conference, win a big bowl. Have a 2022 Tulane season. People will notice.

      Morris Goat

      I'll take heat from this but I mentioned it in previous threads about Chandler Rogers so whatever. That guy performed great when games were out of reach. His greatest performances were comeback attempts that fell short. Electric? Yes. Could he consistently lead and sustain scoring drives early against good teams? No. He put us in huge holes with those first half performances. I can't say the same about Morris so far, minus the Tech game.

      Can We Get the PA Fixed Before Tulsa?

      Didn’t show up. We noticed early on that it looked like Tulsa was going to have more students in the stand than NT.

      Good Game for Caponi and the Defense

      If you're going to only use 3 down linemen, it makes sense that a defense that uses 4 linebackers is more effective than one that uses 3. I get that the star position is supposed to be a hybrid safety/LB but it just hasn't worked here for whatever reason. We stopped the run because we had four linebackers in position to fill run gaps past the line of scrimmage. And, unfortunately, I think having a really complex backfield with a mix of 5 safeties and corners only works if you have the best personnel AT OTHER POSITIONS NOT IN THE BACKFIELD. For a 3-3-5 to work, the front 3 and linebackers have to be perfect and that is asking a lot. Happy with the 3-4 and multiple D change.
