Kelvin Gaines, a 6-10 center who has spent the last three years at Cincinnati, will likely visit UNT this weekend, multiple sources close to the situation said late this week.

Gaines redshirted his first season at Cincinnati and then playing sparingly the last two years.

He is set to graduate in just three years and could be looking for another school where he can continue his career.

A Cincinnati spokesman declined comment when asked about Gaines’ status with the program.

So this guy is big, can rebound and block shots. He does not appear to be a scorer. Looks like they want to have him split time with Coleman down low. Makes sense.

Yes

Make it happen Benford.

Looks like our best option available.

Even though his PT is low he still has Big East expieriance.

If he can split time with Coleman or if Coleman doesn't develop then it gives us another option at center.

So we may be getting a Big East center. I thought we already had one of those...

I actually like Egi better than Gaines based on what little I know of them. Being on a BE squad means little if you don't play. Egi appears to have some offensive game unlike this guy.

Gaines averaged more turnovers & fouls than anything else. We really don't need him to score , but have to get someone in here to rebound & defend. I don't know if he's that guy or not

We have plenty of scoring options with Jones, Taylor, Williams x 2 Hall of Famer Walton , Vaughns, etc

I do like Egi's ability to hit the 15ft jumper. Could help spread the defense. He also has the jump roping ability to help out with half time entertainment.
