ASSOCIATED PRESS--"WIND FARMS GET PASS ON EAGLE DEATHS"

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_WIND_ENERGY_EAGLE_DEATHS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2013-05-14-07-57-59

...."CONVERSE COUNTY, Wyo. (AP) -- Wind farms in this corner of Wyoming have killed more than four dozen golden eagles since 2009, one of the deadliest places in the country of its kind.

But so far, the companies operating industrial-sized turbines here and elsewhere that are killing eagles and other protected birds have yet to be fined or prosecuted - even though every death is a criminal violation.

The Obama administration has charged oil companies for drowning birds in their waste pits, and power companies for electrocuting birds on power lines.

But the administration has never fined or prosecuted a wind-energy company, even those that flout the law repeatedly"....

Hi Rick,

Honestly now. Are you really concerned about America's wildlife or is this just another chance to take a shot at Obama?

Hi GT,

You do realize I didn't write the article,...which was in just about every paper in the country.. It's an interesting read for several reasons.....to me.

I agree Rick. It is our "pick and choose" administration, then again, I would bet he knew nothing about this. :sign0095:

I'd rather keep the eagles alive and make sure our energy use and carbon emissions low, but between the two, I'll focus more on the carbon emissions. I mean, the Earth is capable of repairing its own environment but like anything, it's got its limits. I don't want to see what they are. I think tech could solve the issue of keeping the eagles away from the turbines. Some sort of high-frequency sound or something that keeps them from the area would probably help, and it's pretty silly that no one in the system has proposed something that keeps them out of the area.

Rick, we all repost article for a reason. It's a simple question.

Does UNT still have the "grackle cannons"? We could always loan them out...or rent them...
