I've been to those games at the Cotton Bowl in the past...it was like hooking up to a death star and careening off into outer space.

No. We keep talking about wanting to put our "big boy" pants on...and then we bend over and drop trou' for any BCS school that comes calling. Stop it. If you want respect you have to respect yourself first. We are worthy of having "big name" teams come to our place...let's start believing it ourselves!

Now you're starting to sound like those fans down at College Station............ B)

We have a great stadium in Denton. No, terrible idea. It's a pain in the ass for the team, coaches, students, many fans, and takes revenue away from the University as well as Denton. It turns a home game into an away game as well. Negative!

I agree here, except that we only bend over for those AQ giants at their place. We need the money...

The only way the Cotton Bowl or JerryWorld should everhave to be used is to schedule a game here against a huge national power that Apogee wouldn't contain. Obviously, Texas, OU, A&M, and Arkansas already play here, but its teams like that who I am thinking about. Suppose for a moment that we scheduled Nebraska or LSU. Apogee, in all its greatness, won't fit that crowd, most likely. BUt this is all a mott point--we aren't scheduling any team like that anytime soon to play anywhere near Denton. Our home OOC games for the next decade will feature SMU, Army, and either a Texas FCS team or a team like Idaho.

I still think the AD should look at getting a series going with the northern BIg XII schools (or ex- BIg XII North schools). Games at home against Nebraska, Mizzou, or COlorado will get those teams exposure in the state again. The Kansas schools and Iowa State aren't going to turn down another chance to play in the Metroplex, even if they have a game in Ft. Worth every other year.

Generally, I agree with the "no" votes here. But I do have a couple of caveats...

-IF we get at least 5 games at Apogee, I'd be amenable to the idea of a "neutral location". But if the State Fair idea would mean 4 at Apogee plus that one as a "sort of" home game, then nonononono.

-IF the 5-game minimum at Apogee is held, then I'd be even more open to the Metroplex round-robin ideal (though the Big 12 North idea isn't too shabby either). But even then I'd prefer those counting as home-and-home series.

Here's my thing: if they're going to waffle on whether or not we will have 6 home games, I'm not going to hate on it if the 6th is a neutral (and fairly nearby) location. But if we only get "5" and one of those is at the Cotton Bowl or Texas Stadium or whatever...that's only 4 real home games. So NO.

Basically, I'm against it but will be less against it if we still get 5 home games and the neutral one is something exciting, unique draw, likely to get way more to attend than the past ones you guys mentioned, etc. This isn't necessarily an issue worth drawing a line in the sand over, but there had better be some real "oomph" to it for me to consider it worthwhile.

No.

Due to it's structural design, Apogee provides us with a home field advantage even when it is half full. Get as many games in that baby as possible--and WIN them!! You don't get anywhere as a little guy just going .500 (or worse). Schedule in as many wins as it takes to finally turn around recruiting/attendance/donations/etc.

It all starts with winning your home games. Apogee provides us with a natural advantage that we should not discount in the hope of drawing a mostly fickle Dallas sports crowd. Maybe we can have this discussion in 5-10 years if our football team starts winning games, but we shouldn't be having it now.

No. First and foremost we should be playing at our new state of the art stadium. Despite the intermittent improvements, the Cotton Bowl is FAR from state of the art. The field is in good shape, but the stands and sight lines are only slightly better than Fouts. I've been to two functions in the new press box and it's better than it was but still nothing to write home about. There is a reason the BCS wouldn't include the Cotton Bowl in their rotation and not having a dome was NOT the biggest part of it. As of four years ago, the locker rooms were roughly on par with Fouts. They could have improved them, but I haven't heard about it and it would require millions.

Stay at Apogee. Play a bowl game at the Cotton Bowl if we must, but I'd rather play a bowl game at an updated facility like TCU.
