North Texas' Tony Mitchell back to potential lottery pick?

Tony Mitchell is a special talent out of North Texas. He can shoot from virtually anywhere on the floor and possesses tremendous athleticism.

Projected as a late first-round pick by most mock drafts, Mitchell can provide an X-factor to any team that picks him up.

At 6'8" and 235 pounds, Mitchell is somewhat small for the power forward position in the league. But he may be better suited as a hybrid type of forward because of his ability to shoot the ball.

Last season, he averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game. Not eye-popping numbers, but the team around him wasn't exactly up to the task of providing Mitchell with opportunities to succeed.

In 2011-12, Mitchell made nearly 40 percent of his three-pointers. That number dipped down to 30 percent last season, but he certainly possesses the skill to hit the outside jumper.

If Mitchell can show his abilities to the fullest at the combine, his stock may even rise to the level of a potential lottery pick.

When is the combine? Must be pretty soon, right? Isn't the draft next month? How many consecutive questions can I put in one post? Is this Billy Madison? Are there horse socks?

Hmmmmmm...which one did you attend? I think I would trust your reporting should you have attended rather than some of these so-called draft exprts. Do you recall how fantastic the draft exprts did in the recent NFL draft? Not so good as I recall...in fact horrible!

The Quinn man here could certainly have done better, if in attendance that is.....

This is a GREAT site on the draft. Of course it's from the NBA, so expect no less.

Thanks for that...and can you believe Kevin Durant couldn't bench 185? Geez, even with my old age and my joints getting worse, I could probably knock out 8-10 reps of 185 and I'm not a very big guy. Maybe it's just an exaggeration and he just skipped the bench press portion of the combine...?

No, it was pretty big news at the time that Durant couldn't bench much at all. But most people didn't worry too much about it given his amazing plethora of offensive skills.

Totally agree. I often put my trust in those who have attended events which are, unabashedly, designed to fire up a fan base with the best spin possible, rather than those whose job it is (read: they maintain their employment based on) to grade potential pro draftees.

I'm thinking of purchasing a car soon. I know Car and Driver gives consistently high marks to the BMW's...but I'm gonna take my chances with the Kia salesman instead.

I think the only safe car for you to buy is a Lexus from Jordan Case since his cars were actually at the Plano coaches caravan event.

I think it's his big wingspan more than anything.
