Sizelove’s older brother, Jake, is playing at Tulsa. Their father, Mike, played at UNT and was a letter winner in 1981 and 1983. However, when Sam showed interest in Kansas State, Sizelove said, his father shared the enthusiasm.

“I think he liked K-State the most because it just fits me as a player and a person the most,” Sizelove said. “I don’t think he ever really wanted me to go play at North Texas, just because he didn’t feel like it was the right fit for me.”

When Wilson stepped on the KSU campus, he said, he and Sizelove were treated like some of the best recruits in the nation.

“They really made us feel like they wanted to us play for them early on,” Wilson said. “It was a good feeling. The whole atmosphere of being in Manhattan, it was warming. I enjoyed everything about it.”

Should I be bitter that a former player steered his son away from UNT?

A father wants what is best for his son.

These high school students would not be the first to be drawn far away from home and later decide to transfer back to their home area code. Too bad they have to sit out a year when they realize they've made a mistake.

It will most likely be a long time before another Argyle with promise signs at UNT after what has happened with Clarke. Argyle is a pretty knit town.

Victor Gill had a pretty nice career here.

Give me a break on Overlander. That kid got a chance to play and was absolutely horrible. No one will hold that against UNT. I believe our current long snapper is from Argyle and has had a good UNT experience.

Most of the team was close to horrible last year, not including the coach who was definitely horrible. I am not sure the long snapper is exactly a strong point, being that no team in the nation other than NT under special circumstances would give a high school player a full ride for that duty.

Whether local or not, I don't like coaches that run off numbers of players every year but it is how most of the programs work. The NCAA tried to limit this, but it seems the common practice now. At least with Overlander they handled it properly, unlike Norris who was a last second reject when Taylor become available.

As far as Argyle or any other place holding grudges, I doubt it is a significant factor. High School coaches may and many do, but kids almost always think that they are good enough that it will never happen to them. So the problem with recruiting Argyle or any other city in Texas, is NT's current program not some grudge over past recruits.
