Hell Yes I saw that during the game last night, made my day.

I liked this one:

I like where this is going if we are going to rebuild lets do it from the ground up.

Excuses aside, the Stars never made the postseason in Joe's tenure while many other franchises with uncertain ownernship situations still managed to win games and make the playoffs.
His trade of forward James Neal to the Pittsburgh Penguins for d-man Alex Goligoski was terrible. The reason to fire head coach Dave Tippett when he took over as GM may have been sound, but the subsequent hirings of Marc Crawford and Gulutzan as the were duds.

I really did not like the James Neal Trade for Goligoski, Alex Giligoski drives me crazy. Our power play sucks we don't shoot, we don't crash the net, what the hell are we doing?

I like that Nill is Detroit's Chief scout and over sees drafting from top to bottom.

Nill, 55, has been with the Wings since 1994. He has overseen the drafts and the development of those draft picks as they’ve risen through the ranks either in Europe or in North America, especially so after players have joined Detroit’s AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids.

The cleaning of house begins now, I like the direction we are going. Tom Gaglardi seems to be getting it done.

I wouldn't have minded another season to see what he could do however I completely understand. The James Neal trade is the default move people will refer too but I'll say that he brought in Kari for Ivan Vishnevsky. I'd say the worst move Joe made was firing Tippet. He was a great coach and he's continued showing it in Phoenix and they're in a much worse situation than Dallas was in. The bankruptcy years certainly limited what Joe could do whether we all admit it or not and I think he was brought into a lose lose situation. Anyways I am pretty excited about Nill. Someone from the Wings brass is nice to have but I wonder why he was an assistant for 15 years and didn't land a GM job elsewhere especially with their great success over the years.

Looks like Owner Tom does want to win. This gives me hope for the new uniforms, team, coach, and the future. It is very telling that the Stars have only missed the playoffs twice other than the past 5 years.

Completely agree with everything here - but having Nill lined up made it a must do.

And the tenure in Detroit doesn't concern me. Look at how the Rangers have built a front office with cross promotions and additional responsibilities to keep very talented people together longer than they should.

Now, although it's not entirely fair, time to get a coach with a tangible system/philosophy?

Should've never fired Tippett, and that did him in. Tippett did the best he could with a bunch of dudes past their prime. I'm glad to see Joe go.

And look at how Tippett is doing in Phoenix, with a team that doesn't have an owner.

Nill has had plenty of offers to be a GM, unlike NT's recent hire of a longtime assistant.

After watching those late 90's-early 00's Red Wings teams, my hockey pants are going a little crazy right now.
