Steve Ramsey, Joe Greene, etc. played on the freshman team in 1965 and defeated Tech & Ark. Among others, but I' ve never heard of JV FB at D-1 level.

Nor have I. Freshmen were not allowed to play on the varsity until 1972. North Texas had freshman teams but no JV. They did play some JV teams from Division II schools and below.

I remember JV football Coach Hess who worked under HFC Rod Rust.

I am not sure but I think think the JV program would have 5-6 games a year.

I watched the JV team play a couple of games.

I took a swiming class taught by Coach Hess during a summer secession.

Great guy! Gave me some very good references.

Coach Hess left NT to go to the University of New Mexico.

The last time was 2007-2010

Don't understimate the teams from 2005 and 2006. THey were also very JV-esque. That pillow fight between us and FIU that took 7 OTs with neither team able to make FGs was peewee football...

I doubt this was intended to be funny, but it was so +1 for you.
