New C-USA versus AAC: A USM Fan' s Comparison

Recommended Posts

Or the MWC? If we got an offer, doubtful we'd go. Maybe UTEP, but that's about it. The MWC is not an alluring conference.

I would rather be in the MWC than the AAC. Brand recognition, more TV money, and a higher football profile.

Just ask TCU.

Again, it shouldn't be about travel expenses and the bottom line, it should be about moving the program up the college football food chain. MWC is absolutely a better football conference.

Besides, if the CUSA continues on it's current path, it will be full of former Belt teams and FBS start ups, really no better than the Belt.

GL2Greatness, have you been promised extra stars in your eternal crown by dissing anything that has to do with the University of North Texas? Is this the remainder of your life's true calling and mission? Jeez, Louise, if you are not a bitter ex UNT employee, the time you spend on this forum and the content of your posts which are about 100% anti-North Texas make it really seem as if you absolutely do not have a life outside the subject of UNT or its athletic program.

I'm sure its not in your cyber character but come on now and square up with the house; that is, square up with all of us here in Harry's House what it is that has caused you to be so upset with anything relating to the University of North Texas? I've already broken one cardinal rule by giving you this much attention but.......honest to goodness, it is quite abnormal for one who wants a nice comfy' chair in our UNT living room with your prime reason for being in it to lay non-stop steaming piles of dog doo'. Does that get your "anti'MeanGreen blood" all stirred up to hear that, too?

Ever heard "when visiting be respectful?" Your daily modus operendi rather seems to be "when visiting GMG.com just be a real bonafide turd and ramble thru "THEIR" living room terrorizing and destroying as much as you possibly can. Your knowledge of North Texas on this and other boards you lurk is too obvious for you to have not at one time been on the UNT payroll so that begs this question if that be the case: It this what all this has been about all the time,ie, your being just another bitter ex employee? If not--intrigue us all and give us even a just a subtle hint as to what your true purpose is of being a regular in our Mean Green living room or will that take away your mystery and forever cease your reason for being here?

As a stock-holder (so to speak) of the school I graduated, ie, a 1976 grad, it is my right to critique my alma mater all I want but I only do so with the hope that those in charge will listen to our group collectively and then create an environment as to where our school has a chance to get better and improve to where we can all sing "Happy Days Are Here Again" so I guess our eventual singing of that song would get stuck in your craw, too, right?

Still you seem hell bent on wanting to see our school burn to the ground.....or it get sacked and salted (a la ancient Carthage) with almost every thing you post--I mean almost EVERY thing you post. And when someone every once in awhile gets inside your head, you show your character & disdain even moreso by starting your own version of "isolating and demonizing" with sarcasm and "quotes" about said poster. You don't bother me one minute after I've read one of your "put down" posts about my school, but it does bother me that you get to be a regular in our living room of which you've not been invited to stay. Are you always so rude and uncouth?

And for what it's worth, I believe in Freedom of Speech as much as anyone, but if I had your IP address and ran this forum you might very well become the one exception who loses that right.

I don't think USM would leave. There's no benefit besides schools they were with before. USM has a chance to be with schools with higher upside instead of schools like Tulsa and UH that have hit their ceiling.

That's 2 ignorant statements in less than a few hours Mr.Meangreener. If we hit our ceiling, we wouldn't be building a 40-45k seat stadium with the ability to expand to 60k if necesary, in that case we would have just built another 32k seat stadium like a certain team in Denton did. If we hit our ceiling then, we wouldn't be getting the recruits we're getting despite going 5-7 with a loss to Texas State. If we hit our ceiling, we wouldn't be on every P5 school's expansion candidate list. (albeit at towards the bottom for the B1G).

If we hit our ceiling, then why has both ESPN and NBC state that us, UCONN, Cincy and Temple are the reason we have our current contract? Why would our TV contract say if we along with one other school leave for a P5 conference, it would terminate the contract for everybody else? If we hit our ceiling, an SEC executive (yep, you read that right) wouldn't have made this comment:

"When they win, the city really gets behind them," said an SEC

administrator, directly referencing Houston's Southwest Conference membership

from 1971 through its disbanding in '95. "They've always been caught in between

the Texas and Texas A&M crowds, but if they were ever to get back to a

top-level conference, where they really have a shot at competing for big

championships, the potential there is through the roof."

We saw what happened when the whole city stood behind us on our 2011 run. We easily could have had 50k if Robertson was big enough. (Hell, many Houstonians wanted us to play in Reliant so they could attend the game but we said no due to the campus homefield advantage)

If we hit our ceiling, then why did ESPN Insider rate us as the 2nd most valuable non AQ school ahead of Boise, Cincy and UCONN to name a few. (BYU was #1)

http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/blog/_/name/mcgee_ncf_ryan/id/8759003/which-schools-target-future-conference-realignment-moves-college-football

Again, I ask you Meangreener. PLEASE, PLEASE, think before you post.

The only reason anyone gets behind anything in Houston is because they're hoping it will block the smell. The first time I ever went to Houston (for a conference) we got out of the van and I said, "Oh God, what's that smell?" And everybody laughed and said almost in unison, "That's Houston." Lubbock is certainly worse, but that's a story for another time (mostly because I think I already told it on here).

Ah, the little man syndrome. Feel the need to trash Houston at any cost...except it is always rated as a better city.

Stop being ignorant. If you smelled something, you weren't in Houston, it was Pasadena...affectionately known as "Stinkadena".

That mentality is the arrogant, narcisstic, self centered mentality that makes the entire state of Texas hate the metroplex.

Considering I had only recently moved from Pennsylvania and knew nothing about the Houston vs. DFW rivalry (and had hardly seen much of Texas outside of the UNT campus by then), the TRHA conference was being held on the UH campus, and that was my "introduction," none of what you've said is relevant whatsoever to the fact that everyone else I was with already knew that Houston smelled like ass.

Oh wait, I'd value your opinion if I didn't look at your profile and realize you live in the kidnap-city-of-the-world and racist desert hellhole known as Phoenix.

Furthermore, Denton is more polluted than Houston because Denton gets the leftover DFW pollution. Houston was recently named the greenest city in the country, by the way. So keep making up stuff if it makes you feel superior.

I also used to live in a white trash suburb of Philly, which was the most racist place I've ever seen and why it was impossible to stay there. So good on you for trying to scapegoat me for how everyone else acts. Not really seeing how any of that changes 1) the fact that Houston smells awful and 2) the fact that you're going out of your way to be a prick just because I pointed out that it does.

You pointed out that UH smells bad...a campus in the worst part of Houston neighboring Pasadena. It's your opinion, you presented is fact, so I'm pointing out that you're wrong and being an arrogant jerk.
