. “We didn’t have the season we wanted last year. I didn’t want it to look like I was jumping ship."

Well this is exactly what it looked liked....this isnt exactly a strong statment for next season.

The good thing is he won't take any recruits with him.

If we even have any recruits...

"The biggest reason I turned the job down was because I came here to help get this program going."

Really! No, you came here to elevate a program that was already "going" just fine and had "the most talented team in UNT history" to work with.

Already trying to re-write UNT history?

An offer to be the head guy at his own program and I would think the opportunity to make more money ? And he turned it down ? It sounds like to me that he is sincere and wants to do what he can here. I appreciate his not wanting to "jump ship" and make this past season a really unpleasant memory.

The title of this thread is that Lundy was offered and turned the job down. It sounds like he did have a chance.

I said I know nothing about the situation, but don't believe everything you hear about job offers.

Greetings from cold Wisconsin. Let me fill you in on Coach Lundy, he is not going to tell you something that is not true. The only reason that coach would even entertain a D2 job would be to get closer to his sons. I'm certain that the job was offered and after careful thought Coach decided that UNT was the place for him. From my point of view UNT is very lucky to have this coach at this time.
