I have finished up my stories for the day. Now for some notes from Wednesday’s football practice …

UNT’s running game was probably the highlight of the day, which is no big surprise. Running the ball is what UNT has done well for more than a decade.

I thought Mark Lewis had a terrific day. Brandin Byrd looks a lot more agile and light on his feet. He made a really nice move to the outside in team drills.

Another spot that is going to be interesting this spring is the defensive line with so many key players out with injuries. The missing pieces have left open spots for younger players to see some time with the first and second teams. Jarrian Roberts was one of the guys who was in there quite a bit at defensive end. JUCO transfer Quenton Brown is also getting a long look.
