Still concerned Brock isn't running away with this, maybe the coaches don't want that to put state that publicly.

They publicly announce we are going to run our QB - zone reads/pistol etc etc. A 180 from our offense from last year. Of DT and BB who does that fit the most?

It would be very difficult and possibly damaging in the locker room to just anoint Berglund the QB without any "competition." But you don't up and change your offense if you don't know who is going to run it.

My guess is they won't officially say anything until fall but BB is the guy.

I thought DT had the best footwork in that drill.

Yeah, his footwork does look good but that was never really the problem.

Someone on here said DT was a pitcher growing up. Much like some pitcher's who go on to play qb, Thompson has a long windup rather than a short and compact stroke. Because of this he rarely, almost never, throws a spiral which does matter.

Tim tebow, former pitcher, has the same problem and we've seen all the flack he's caught for this issue with his throwing mechanics.

Also, it looked like Kenny Buyers has moved to receiver. He was a nickel back and played a good amount of special teams for us last year as a walk-on true freshman.

Guys who are agile enough to cover slot receivers make good slot receivers themselves. I could see this working out well.

If Kenny Buyers has moved to receiver then either he or John Chelf need to change numbers. Because they both still show the same # on the roster.......with Buyers on defense and Chelf on offense.

Derek Thompson does not have good footwork ... or at least not in games. He has a hitch in his step when the throws not to mention he often throws off his back foot.

After his first year I thought he was a solid, mid-Sun Belt quarterback. Last year he regressed though lacking the threat of Dunbar and having receivers not producing also hurt.

I didn't want to say he had back footwork and throwing motion. I've bashed him a little too much and, if he starts, I'll probably bash him in the fall. It's spring, time for hope so I'll put some faith in DT right now. But yes, bad mechanics unfortunately.

It appears to come really easy for Brock. DT still is inaccurate throwing to WR's against air but clearly does look like he has trimmed down. It'll be interesting to follow this spring and should be a lot of fun to watch on Saturday in the scrimmage.

speaking of the Spring Game... I can't be the only one that cringed when I saw what Brent Osborn looked like playing last year at the Spring Game. I thought it would have been merely because of being with the 2nd string but once they put him in the 1st string team he didn't play much better. This spring game will be the most interesting one I have ever attended (only back to 08).
