Cooley...still wondering why you said that Flannigan (Flash) was a wasted ship". Really would like to have your thoughts on that. Are you talking about what you see in his abilities or is it something else?

Maybe a little too harsh Kram but I haven't seen anything (on game tape) to sugguest that he is better than or equal to Greg Wesley. (Who is a freshman) I don't see Greg starting by the way. Don't understand why we would bring in a Juco guy that doesn't start. I like the Voss kid more (at the 4) because he seems to be a little more skilled and physical. "Flash" looks extremely soft to me to play the needed aggressive game down low. Both Benford and the kid have said that he needs to bulk up to be more physical down low. I just don't see that happening in your junior year. I guess I would prefer to have a walkon freshman (local kid) coming off the bench than a juco scholarship kid who is not physically ready for D1 in CUSA. Just my opinion.

I understand that we have nobody in the post. I completely agree! I was just going based off of the numbers and what I see could become a dowry issue. Talent wise we need a solid big but depth wise another guard. I am really hoping Coleman was holding back last season.... Anyway I am giving us another season and hope we make a nice splash with these last two scholarships.

Thanks, Cooley. I really appreciate the expertise without the drama that you and NT03 bring to recruiting discussions. I don't follow the recruiting wars much at all...only really interested AFTER a player commits and/or signs with UNT. So, when you or NT03 say a signee is a "wasted scholarship", I tend to pay attention. Appreciate your thoughts on Flannigan.

Great point. Keith was playing back so we couldn't shift an NBA quality forward from center to the power forward spot. He's gonna have some happy babies, though.

All I can say at this point and going forward, is , " Please prove me wrong Benturd."

I don't think some of you realize how far down the line NT is now in recruiting. We can wish and hope all we want to that NT is going to get a highly regarded recruit, but I don't think it is going to happen.

Flanagan is a good example, a very highly athletic player with at this point not a lot of game. The hope is that he will improve enough to get major minutes, but at least be a reliable spot player. Voss has to be one of the least recruited JUCO AA at all times. However, he looks like a good player for NT, will take up space and provide a presence for NT inside.

Hoping for a big time center, is wishful thinking. The hope for next year is that a strong guard squad can carry the team with very suspect inside play.

Not saying NT can't get good players, but IMO they are going to have to be the proverbial diamond in the rough type that aren't highly recruited. JJ till the end of his career at NT, didn't get a lot of high rated recruits either; but he got athletic players that fit his style and eventually he moved NT up in the basketball world.

It is sad that NT is again at ground zero, in basketball thinks to the decision not only to hire Benford but to retain him. I hope Benford can build a program, but I haven't seen anything so far to generate a lot of faith in that outcome.

I agree with everything in this post. I don't see any difference makers so far on these last 4 ships and, at this point, I doubt we get any with the last 2.

If we had a coach that we could trust to develop talent, I would feel slightly better.

But we don't.
