Thank you for your 1st half season with UNT, TM.

And I'm sorry we didn't hire an experienced head coach for your second year, leading to much frustration on our and your part, I'm sure.

Go forth and make us proud. I really hope you end up in a Spurs uniform. I think that is the situation that would be best for you. Pop can fix what Benford broke.

You know, people should really listen to Pop, or at least call him back...

Just watched the press conference. Unless Tony ends up with the Lakers, his team becomes my new favorite team. Best of luck and make us proud!

Add the Heat and Nets to that list.

We were discussing this at home the last couple of days, and you know, I think Mitchell going pro will be a better recruitment tool than anything else we could have at this rather dismal point, as long as he gets some playing time (and especially if he is better known AFTER this disaster is over - either Benford is gone or shows that he can actually get something done next year if he isn't ousted). I would hate to get some recognition that goes down the crapper if recruits hate the program, but if it hits right as things are going a bit better, then that will be perfect. And perhaps that's why it was good that Mitchell spent another year with us - if things were going to go downhill, it's better that we have time to fix it before his pro career gets us attention than to have it hit in the middle of a terrible period. So if you think about the timing...it may all work out perfectly in the end. Mitchell gets recognition when the UNT BB program kicks back into a decent situation, and a couple of decent recruits later, we may be back in the NCAA tournament (an possibly a couple of games in) like we should have been.

Of course I would rather that things had not gone backwards in the first place...but as that is where we are now, this may be exactly the right situation with the best possible timing. As long as things do get better within 1-2 years. Grrr.

Just thinking..... Tony might not be a lottery pick now but could u imagine him playing for the heat, okc, spurs, or another contender? Hey young fellow your only job is to block shots and when our guy is doubled go sky for an alley-oop.

The whole "testing the waters" thing is no longer legal, thanks to the NCAA.

Here is a link if you'd like to read further into it. In the past, the NCAA and NBA had a uniform deadline to remove your name from the draft. This date was after the Combine and everything. 2 years ago, the NCAA imposed it's own deadline of "the day before the first day of spring signing period." This date precedes all of the workouts, the combine, etc. This year, the NCAA deadline is April 16. NBA teams can't contact underclassmen until May 2nd.

All that said, good luck to Tony in the NBA. You were fun as hell to watch while you were here and we will all be rooting for you.

Go Mean Green!
