The voting for the All-Century team has closed. More than 11,000 votes were cast, and we will now begin the final count. The results will be announced at the spring game.

Some folks are still casting ballots online, but any votes cast after the 13th will not be counted. The votes have a time and date stamp, so any further voting will not affect the final outcome. Just thought you'd like to know.

Thanks to everyone who participated.

Thanks, Smitty. This has been a lot of fun, and I appreciate that the fans have gotten at least a say in the All Century Team winners. Looking forward to seeing the results at the spring game on April 13th.

Thanks to everyone who worked to make this vote happen.

You know, it occurred to me that since college football teams almost always have a band to help cheer them on and provide musical "encouragement", during the game, why not celebrate a century of North Texas marching band. Now, the problem with that is, early on, did they even show up to games and when did they start showing up at games to provide the aforementioned "musical encouragement". Also, when did they actually start marching at games? Here is the earliest photo of a North Texas band that I can find...from the 1911-12 school year.

It looked like this the first year a football team was fielded (1913)

By 1917 (the 1916 football season), it's finally looking like it might be a marching band.....

By 1920, their numbers had dropped quite a bit.

The first band with uni's? 1928.

So, how/when would we celebrate the 100th year of the North Texas Band?
