Not a strong field, but NT dominated. Good win over number 15 LSU.

No offense intended, but this is what makes me shake my head on here. We win a golf tournament that included the #15 school in the country, LSU, who have a good program and we criticize the remainder of the field. We beat LSU by 4 strokes after being tied going into the final round and beat third place La Tech by 31 strokes. Who really cares about the field when we spanked them by that many shots? This is a great win for the golf program.

I had the opportunity to meet Coach Stracke and his wife last year tailgating, as well as some of his former players. Super nice couple and group of young men. Great job.

Great effort by the team.... now ranked 25th !!!

Being ranked in the top 25 when half the season is through is a great effort in any sport!

And for those who clamour for stronger fields: the schenkel Invitational they play this weekend certainly does not lack those: I think 3 top ten teams and 5 or 6 top 25 and a bunch of other top 100 teams.

This is more than a little ridiculous, when stating the obvious in an overall positive comment has to be defended.

It was the negative slant 97and03 put on it followed up by yours that got to me. Sorry, but we spanked the field and beat LSU head to head in the final round.

I don't think every tournament has to be against the top 25 or anything. But this tourney you reference is better for the team overall (long term) as it better reflects what they will face at the NCAA regionals (assuming they win the SBC).

Ranked 25th... if they stay anywhere close to that ranking they will not have to win the SBC to get to the regionals. low 40ies should be good enough. Also: They did ok the week before at a decently stacked tourney. they may not have won the whole tournament but certainly held their own against a bunch of good teams.So they are not ducking competition. Putting in a tournament every once in a while where outright victory is more probable seems a good move though towin a bit of confidence. I tend to think confidence is a particularly important factor in golf

And we are in 9th after 1 round. This tournament much more indicative of real competition. 9th among such a strong field isn't too bad and is better preparation. Good tournament for where we are at in the golf world. You have to play the best to be the best.

yeah the first day was really disappointing... the second day is going really well so far though -4 for the day (+4 overall) and up to 4th spot so far

Sadly enough they collapsed on the back 9 and went from -4 for the day to +6 for the day. Tied for 8th :(

Particularly the team leader Cazaubon really faltered today with 7 bogeys on the back 9

      Is Chandler Morris healthy?

      Have we thought that maybe he is just not that good against average to above average teams? Threw a pick to end our chances against Memphis. Threw two picks that cost us the Army game. And threw two picks that cost us the UTSA game. There is a reason it didn't work out for him at okla and TCU. Hopefully we can beat the two inferior teams we have left on our schedule.

      I know the second half of this year has been really disappointing but dang- we shouldn’t hope for losing to avoid a bowel game. Before the start of the season everyone would’ve been happy with more W’s. It shows improvement. It shows we’re building something and gives the coaches evidence for when they talk to recruits. Win out and win whatever bowl game, 8-5 might convince some transfers/recruits that could really help turn this team into something next year.

      Dude isn’t going to have an arm after this season. I swear I’ve seen him come off the field like 3 separate times holding it like it’s broken.

      Pretty much what the two comments above are saying: It’s a strong possibility that he’s got a case of hero ball. “I need to play amazing for us to win” mentality. Mistakes avalanche and instead of relaxing, you tighten up and are harder on yourself. Obviously that’s total conjecture based on my personal experience in sports. We all know he’s great and wants to win. Could totally be a nagging injury too, who knows. Hope he sticks around for another season with an experienced OL and a more consistent D. That’d be a treat to watch.
