Who stays?

Will we act like a grown up program and correct a mistake?

How do we even try to compete in CUSA when we are a bottom barrel Belt team that will lose its most talented player and still has 2 open scholarships for next year?

Many questions, few answers gives me little hope.

If I were you I'd lose my phone..., skip Lucky's, take as 6 pack to the French Quarter, then drink at Long Shots until they close it down.

That's now what.

Now this disaster is over, my guess NT,s limps around for at least two more years with Benford at the helm and hopes with a downgraded oc schedule they might get back to .500.

What should happen, is the AD does whatever it takes to get a new head MBB in here as quickly as possible. However, RV will most likely talk about progress, injuries, and anything but he made a grievously bad hire.

Personally I think TB should be done, because there is little that I saw that makes me feel that a turnaround is on it's way, but I guess financially and reputation wise (you don't wanna be the school that always has it's hand on the trigger) he'll get a second year.... but it really has to be get it done or get gone next season. what the bar will be exactly will depend on the OOC schedule. But I don't think that less than 6 conference wins is gonna cut it, even in C-USA... and it is sad that 6 conference wins might be the bar... and even sader that even then I am not sure at all whether next years team could get there.

With Peterson the season was not all jubilation either, but it was a bit better and I can immagine that this team will player wise be better next season, as 4 of 5 starters and prettymuch the whole bench come back, and I there are things that give me serious hope for significant improvement.

This man is a straight shooter with upper management written all over him.

Sadly went back to the hotel and was asleep by 10:30. Horse track today and who knows tonight, but it won't be basketball.

I guess I should be happy that Benford finished on the high end of my 10-12 win prediction (even though this team had to rally down the stretch to get there) that I made back in late November or early December, but that provides little solace when Hot Springs basketball is done on Friday.

Much like JJ won 20 most years, we will come to know Benford as the coach that lost 20 every year he was here.

So depressing.

And our chances for competing in CUSA next season are...............????????

Would have been nice to start in CUSA on a roll like La Tech has done in basketball and football.

What do you mean? You just witnessed a big turnaround. We went from perennial 20 win seasons and a team who makes it to the Sun Belt tournament final, to a 20 loss team that gets bounced in the 1st round.

We'll keep Bumford for two more years, he'll leave with a career .400 winning percentage, our attendance will be back to averaging 2,500 a game and Texas State will somehow pass us by.

I think you look at what's available and if you find someone that can reignite a fire in this program, you make the call. This season took a lot of steam out of what has been our only quality *major* program for a while. You don't want to lose too much momentum or people might forget about UNT athletics altogether.

Seriously though. Let's prepare a systematic campaign to get rid of at least TB. RV should go too but first we need to take care of TB and as fans, the Athletic Dept and University really needs to consider our voice because a lot of us do donate to the program and put up with this kind of nonsense.
