Conference USA has announced date changes to three football games this fall. All three date changes are to accommodate national television. Game times and networks will be announced at a later date.

The first game is a non-conference contest between Iowa State and Tulsa, a rematch of last season's AutoZone Liberty Bowl won by the Golden Hurricane, 31-17. The 2013 game will now be played Thursday, September 26, in Tulsa.

The initial conference meeting between Marshall and Middle Tennessee has also changed dates. The Thundering Herd and Blue Raiders will now face each other on Thursday, October 24 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The late season meeting between Marshall and Tulsa has been moved up two days and will now be played Thursday, November 14, in Tulsa.

One other date change that has been announced involving a Conference USA team is Florida Atlantic's season opener at Miami (Fla.). That contest will now be played Friday, August 30, in Miami Gardens, Fla. A game time and any television details have not yet been announced.

Additional date changes to accommodate television do remain a possibility, and details of such games will be announced as soon as possible.

C-USA's 17th football season will begin on Thursday, August 29. The league's ninth annual football championship game is scheduled for Saturday, December 7.

Interesting. Not a word about the Rice vs UNT game. Was that in earlier press release, has our new conference taken the lead from local media in ignoring UNT, or is the Halloween game not true?

I guess we will just have to wait and see. Man, it would be terrible if all that Halloween game angst was all for naught. I would prefer a Saturday game because it removes a bunch of reasons for not attending, but do think there will be a good crowd either way.

I guess now it is all....patience grasshopper, patience for all of us.

All of that "angst" was caused by a mailer sent out by our athletic department (and the athletics website) listing the game as Oct 31. I'd think that's a decent source.

Really...what mailer? Got a link or a copy you can post as I don't recall getting a mailer. Not at all saying there was no mailer...heck, I am saying I didn't get one and I usually get that stuff. Darn mailman!

Seriously, not doubting, just asking...I thought it was mentioned by someone that the mailer was from some other school...like , say, Rice.

Might I quote CaliMeanGreen who started the original thread regarding the date change in the first place: "According to a few players on social media the Rice game was moved to Halloween night on national TV". hardly a flier from out athletic department. But, hopefully Emmitt can find that mailer for me...I missed the thing somehow. Again...darn mailman!

OK, I am back...sorry about that...but I am back with a big mea culpa or however you spell that "my bad" thing. Emmitt is 100% correct....there is a flyer...and I have the thing...my apologies to the "darn mailman" as well. Just found the thing in a pile of "stuff" strewn all over my home office in preparation for the filing of my 2012 taxes. It does, indeed, list the Rice game on Oct. 31st!

So...all that angst might just not have been misplaced after all....hey, it is what it is...my bad! :thumbsd::judge:

What I hate about this game being on Halloween is that this is the one game (with Rice being a former SWC member) that I could have talked a couple of alums into attending. Halloween night eliminates that possibility.

Why? Do they live too far out of town or do they have small kids or what? Many schools play weekday games, Halloween or not, and get really nice crowds.

Because its Halloween and they have kids and they could give 2 craps about UNT athletics.
