Funniest thing is that the Colbert report is the first thing listed on that sight.

I fear your generation will just remain stupid.

The funniest thing is that you yourself(from what you post in the pie forum) are a charaicture of the very people that would lead an entire generation to look to the Colbert Report for their everyday news intake. Edited by Green P1

At least Colbert's honest about being pseudo-news. Meanwhile, MSNBC is barely trustworthy for weather and FOX can't be trusted outside of sports scores.

Yet people still flock to those stations to satisfy their politically slanted views on what they think the news should be.

And again, then who are we to believe when the White House starts threatening one of their own to stop criticising them and only report what they want him to?

Just what we need. The Liberal majority states like California are in the deepest holes. Yep, that's the kind of fiscal leadership I want for Texas.

That's what a socialist, community organizer does, isn't it? Threaten, rather than lead.

If you look there for your everyday news intake, your an idiot.

And it has nothing to do with me.

More unintentional gold from the Sutter's Mill of GMG.com.

Excuse me, Mr. Grammar Nazi. Some of us post in a hurry. Too bad I don't have time to grade every post I disagree with on this forum.

You are soooooo much smarter than than all of us, but aren't all people in their 20s?

It's really not even your fault. This is what you have been groomed to do. Don't address an opposing argument, just belittle the person making the opposing argument on non-related issues. Congrats, you learned well.

Is that not exactly what you did to kick off this little tit-for-tat?

Never-the-less...my red-penning your posts seems to have sunk in...you spelled everything correctly in the above response (well...save for "soooooo", but I'm guessing that was to emphasize the extent to which I'm smarter...or you sext a lot and the "o" on your phone just happens to stick sometimes). 20s for only 3 more weeks, by the way.

As to the crux of your post...what exactly is it that you want me to refute? The idea that taking one's news only from satire programs is foolish? OK...but so too would be ignoring those same programs whose primary end is showing just how ridiculous all the 24 hour news networks are, how they're all un-reliable news-sources and how they've all all-but killed legitimate journalism.

I think it's a matter of presentation and less about the content. The Daily Show/Colbert are pretty obvious that they aren't news shows and they're more for laughs than anything else. But in that, they do actually present good, factual information from time to time. It's packaging occasionally decent information inside of comedy for the purpose of comedy first and information, far far behind.

However, Fox, MSNBC and the like are trying really hard to convince us all that they report news, when in reality, it's sensationalized events, non-news, or factually wrong or mislabeled information with occasional, good factual information from time to time. This is sensationalized topics, wrong informaiton, and junk packaged inside of an outwardly serious and "authoritative" wrapper for the purpose of ratings and pageviews with actual information far far behind.

So, what is a reliable news source that is free of bias? It doesn't exist. As for FOX and msnbc, one slants left, the other, right. I can tell you as an unashamed and avid Fox News watcher, I can recognize the talking points on both sides, because they give both sides. Anyone who says otherwise is lying, or is repeating the montra of the left that "Fox lies!" Fox News does what 60 Minutes use to do, and that is to hold those in power accountable. THAT is what a free press is supposed to do. Not be a lap dog for the President

No, no...that was in direct response the fact that you're capable of calling an entire generation "stupid" in one thread (this one) and then turning around and, phone or not, mis-spelling a good half dozen words in a 3 sentence paragraph (a paragraph that berates our education system, no less) and then not recognizing the irony/humor in that.

If you feel that's not contributing to the conversation...you're absolutely right...but then again, when you've already resolutely made up your mind on every topic discussed here, what really is the point of doing anything short of busting chops?
