UNT Tennis, ranked #57, topped #30 Arizona for a great win in Denton today by a score of 4-3. Taking the doubles point proved to be big and the match was tied 3-3 awaiting conclusion of the final contest. UNT freshman Agustina Valenzuela, who uses a two-handed forehand and backhand, came back to win the 3rd set (6-4, 5-7, 7-5) to clinch the victory. Lots of pressure for a freshman to lose the second set, but come back to win it with everything riding on her racket.

Next up for UNT Tennis: #28 TCU at Denton at 2:00 on Wednesday. It should be another great match--see you there!

Tennis and soccer are clearly the most consistent programs at NT right now. Those teams seem to threaten for the NCAAs every year and are bound to advance further in the tourney sometime in the next few years. Great job ladies

Coach Lama has done a phenomenal job, will be curious to see the team adjust to CUSA, although most of the top teams are leaving Tulane, Tulsa, UH, and Memphis leaving Rice as the Top Dog for next year

way to go ladies!

bowler,

unless I missed something, Tulsa will still be in CUSA for 2014 and beyond while Tulane will be in the conference for 2014 before heading to the big least

The leaving dates seem to change, guess I thought Tulsa had made the

move but never happened. Tulsa will be tough as well, they have owned

CUSA recently and Rice is close behind. UTEP also has also put together a

good team this year. I would put UNT around #3 in the conference right

now behind the aforementioned. Marshall and others would be right

behind.

Tulsa lost a five hour match yesterday to SMU 4-3 so they should be pretty tired today when we face off against them.

What do you think untbowler, does this give UNT the edge over Tulsa today?

Any updates? I believe the doubles started at 2pm

New rankings tomorrow, probably see the ladies fall a few spots, but not to bad. Probably stay around 55 or so, nice win over Wichita State.

And the ladies fall all the way out of the rankings. WTF!!!

You lose to teams higher than you and yet fall out?

The ladies need another good win otherwise they will probably be playing a Top 16 school first round.

Look at Ole Miss they have now lost 4 straight and only dropped 4 spots, granted they lost 4-3 to #8 and also lost to #12
