"Do you have a football team? Please give Baylor a call.

The Bears were lined up to play SMU for a second consecutive season, but the Mustangs replaced Baylor with Montana State on its schedule, leaving the Bears in search of a 12th game on their 2013 slate.

SMU was already scheduled to play three other Big 12 teams (Texas Tech, Texas A&M and TCU) next season, but needed to make room for their Big East schedule after moving up from Conference USA.

From the Waco Tribune-Herald:

"While this is a rivalry that both schools value, we decided it would be best if we did not play this season," SMU athletic director Rick Hart said. This was not an easy decision and was made only after careful deliberation. With three Big 12 games and one SEC matchup on our nonconference schedule and an upgraded conference schedule as we join the Big East, we felt we needed to bring some balance to our 2013 schedule."

This brings up two questions for me.

1) Balance because of your Big East schedule? Really ponies? Will UCF, Houston and ECU become so much tougher with a Big East patch on? Nice try trying to sell your watered down collection of wayward souls as a murderers row...but nobody buys it. You were scared of the Waco Baptists because they hung 50+ on you last year, stop trying to spin it. (And nice job of giving them close to no notice so they could rework their schedule...and, NO, I don't think NT has room to wiggle our 2013 schedule)

2) How does it fell to be able to drop a game like Baylor? I'd like to, just once, know the felling of dropping a Texas Big XII school because we still had TCU, Tech and aTm on the slate. But we all know that for our athletic department to get them all on the schedule it's an NCAA rule that we have to play a four game home schedule for five years...right?
