I didn't vote because there was no option for "Oh God, not this again!"

I didn't post this because I am pushing for a change. I was just curious what the consensus is among GMG'ers.

The original Scrappy is in line with Peruna, Bevo, and particularly Kansas. If not on the helmet, then put old Scraps somewhere on the uniform.

SOW on the helmet, the interlocking NT on the shoulder pads/sleeves, and MEAN GREEN on the front of the jerseys. There, everyone happy?

Make it happen!

GO MEAN GREEN!

You are correct. University of Ole Miss. I stand corrected. Are we still the University of North Texas?

Have you ever heard of Ole Miss being referred to as anything other than Ole Miss? That's the point. They do not wish to be The University of Mississippi. They want to be Ole Miss so that is what they put forward. RV wants the world to know us as North Texas, followed by Mean Green and lastly Eagles which is how it is put forward.

Many on this board suffer from the "Curse of Knoweledge" We know who we are so it clouds how we think the world should see us. The casual college football fan though really has no clue.

One key to effective branding is repetition and frequency. If a person flips on the TV in the middle of a play and sees the ball about to be snapped they will see "North Texas" on the helmet. It is an instant get. They dont have to ask anyone in the room. And they see that play after play after play.

Put the SOW or interlocking NT and they wont know until an announcer says it or they look to the score (if it is on screen.)

Bash him all you want but from a branding perspective (introduction/education to/of the consumer) RV is doing it the right way. Especially considering we've never had any helmet design last more than 6-7 years in our Div 1/FBS history.

The problem with "North Texas" being spelled out regarding TV coverage, is that any play by play announcer that has been around for at least a little while sees "North Texas" and the logical next word out of their mouth is......"State"

It's engrained in so many people over the age of 40 that it's a natural progression. Most in that demo remember "North Texas State."

When they see "North Texas" it's only natural to continue what's in their head already.

I know RV has to cringe everytime he hears someone on TV call us that but I think one reason they do is because of his refusal to change that helmet. He's sort of enabling them and making it easier for that mistake to happen.

Interlocking NT looks like a teenager slapped it together. It looks very amateurish, IMO.

SOW all the way.

which interlocked are you talking about? the "new proposed interlocked NT" one on a green helmet is what I voted for...not the white 1967 version.

how about clear helmet... but the padding on the inside is Green... and the players are all required to wear black skullcaps...

Boom... close this thread... I think we have a winner

If I have learned anything on this board, it is that a consensus is nearly impossible and even if one is reached, it will be short-lived.

That uniform on Scott Davis is hilarious. Did they pick that up at a garage sale? Love the Mean Joe uniforms, just not the helmet.

The Joe Green uniform is great. I love the helmet too. Decal included. Especially with no facemask!

Green helmet, black Texas and green interlocking letters. Eh? Eh?

Sorry about the quick Paint job.

Bald Eagle...I like the effort and thought...but a tad too busy . Would keep the Texas state outline discreetely on the undershirt sleeve.

Problem: our helmet is so mehhh , blah and bland

Solution: go with "updated" interlocked NT on helmet or NT with Texas Star in middle....and "keep it" for next 25 years plus...

Why would the AA ever deny "their" university this logo w Texas star?

Why would our university need permission to use their Letterman's interlocked NT logo?

What will our new baseball team use on their caps?

How cool would it be to have the baseball team caps and football team helmets match? "makes sense right?"

...speaking of good sense....there are rumors that our football ball throwback uniforms are going to be a "mash-up" between two decades...1960's Mean Joe Green era and 1970's Hayden era. This would be a huge mistake and further proof we have no clue on how to design a simple football uniform....even if we're copying!

Make a call and move on...please we need an intervention...no mash-up.

My vote would be for the older Mean Joe Green 1960's....either will be cool.

Nothing makes ever makes sense to everyone.

This thread is begging to be derailed. Here ... Enjoy!
